Please be vigilant

Good morning.

We have had one confirmed case of strangles on our livery yard, Sarah's own horse Bear became poorly after being out competing. We had him swabbed thinking it was a nasty infection and it has turned out to be strangles. As soon as we were notified, the livery yard was in complete lock down and the one effected horse put into immediate isolation.

The riding school horses are kept away from the livery side and are cared by different staff. Our riding school is remaining open because this is completely separate and there are no confirmed cases on the riding school side.

Our vet has been out and has put a plan of action of how to remain open safely.

All horses are temperature checked and boot dips and sanitisers are situated around the yard.

We have separated both yards, so there is no risk of cross-contamination.

We ask that after you have been for your lesson, when you get home, you remove all your clothes and wash them straight away.

We ask that you DO NOT visit any other yard to stop the spread.

We want to run as safely as possible and are working with the local council and DEFRA to ensure no other horses become infected. If you think your horse seems off colour, please get them checked immediately. We were lucky Sarah noticed her horse was unwell. No other horses are showing signs or symptoms thankfully.

Well we are now recovering from a fantastic show on Sunday. We managed to raise £500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance from the fun dog show. I would like to thank everyone for coming despite the weather.

Looking good to be having a spooky Halloween show on 24th October at National Horseracing college, Doncaster. If anyone would like to support us by donating prizes etc for such things as best Halloween costume etc then please get in touch. We are going to have 32 classes (some may be split so could be more) In Hand and Ridden with 4 championships and a Supreme Championship.

Well what a great show Festival of the horse we had yesterday. Thankyou to everyone who supported us and to all the judges, stewards and officials you all worked so hard. The standard of horses and ponies was amazing.

Hope to see you all at our next show which will be Christmas themed. Date TBA.
