What do you understand by brumation? Its a similar form to hibernation except participated by cold blooded animals. This period may last a few weeks to a few months. More often than not, a point will come in a Bearded Dragon’s life where they brumate. In captivity, not all dragons will do this. But for many of us, the first time around can be a worrying time. But don’t worry, it’s a completely natural process done In the wild purely for survival. To get through the colder months they will sleep and wait till the warmer months again living off their built up internal nutritional reserves. Evan having your temps normal may not stop it due to millions of years of natural instinct. Ensure you have a nice dark hide they can brumate in. You can tell if your bearded dragon is in brumation because he may have the following symptoms, Sleeping more, appetite decreased, going to sleep earlier, hiding and Pooing less. We reccomend a bearded dragon under the age of 1 year not to brumate as they generally dont have the nutritional reserves to aid through the process. Offer less and less food to the point of nothing being offered in the final week or so. The one of the main reasons for keeping the heat on at this point, is to ensure your dragon has had a poo to avoid the risk of food rotting in their stomach. A healthy Bearded Dragon won’t lose much weight during this period at all. To monitor this weighing your dragon once a week or a fortnight will be fine. Important to owners, first time owners or experienced owners it is recommended to get a f***l sample tested by your reptile vet before the brumation period to rule out parasites as a dragon with parasites can display similar symptoms to brumation. Your Shopping List before buying a Bearded Dragon.

If you’re a beginner and new to the Beardie, the following important items are not to skimp out on before you bring home your new Baby pet!

📌. For Heating, you will need the power socket fitting and most economical heat lamps are the Phillips floodlights 60 - 100 watt depending on the weather and climate you’re in to archive those 40 degrees basking temps.

📌. Uv, a tube is highly recommended about that spans 2/3 of your enclosure overlapping your heat lamp, Arcadia t5 12% and reptisun t5 10.0 are by far the best brands in the market.

📌. 120cm long enclosure you can start with a smaller size if you are only getting a baby but in the long run it will cost you more. Note: Not a fish🐟 Tank

📌. Infrared thermometer, a hand held gun with the red lazer dot, works great! Gives you instant temperatures without needing those small devices that take forever to tell you the basking temps and your dragon not knocking it over!

📌. Calcium powder! No specific brand calcium is calcium imo
📌. F10 disinfectant, i bought a little spray bottle and mixed with water and spray the area your dragon went to the toilet after spot cleaning.

Then you look at thermostats, sand, matting, rocks and other decorations ect after, but hope that really helps those new people out where to start.

Hello👋 Good morning Everyone in here Following my Page, this video was sent to me last night by Mr #StephenSmith asking if he’s right on what he does on his bearded dragon while it’s Shedding so I said, No!! do not assist your bearded dragons while it’s shedding do not peel skin off while it sheds cause I’ve witnessed many reptiles not only dragons damage skin when pull skin off.!

It took me about 21minutes👹 to get out of my Cozy Cave bed. How about you guys?
