Update on our Kona:
She went into labor early Monday morning and I woke up to some squeaky squeals at 3:15 a.m. and ran to the whelping box to find one sweet little puppy... 🥰
I woke up my husband and older three kids because they wanted to be part of watching it, but unfortunately her labor didn't progress very quickly... Finally, around 11:00 a.m. the second puppy was born, but unfortunately he was breach and larger and got stuck. We tried everything we could to help get him out, but sadly, it was too late, and he had already died. 😥
Our kids weren't at home at that time, so we had to prepare them for when they got home just a couple hours later...
Together we buried that sweet little puppy, which we had named "Boots". To experience both birth and death in the same day was very hard, but was a good life lesson as a reminder to our kids of a reality of this life we live here on earth.
It was a very sad day for our family, but we understand that God gives life, but also He allows death, even though we may not understand it all. 😥
Momma and baby are doing well, although it's been a bit of an adjustment for Kona to only have one, and she's a bit obsessive about that one little puppy. 😉 We were surprised that she had such a unusually small litter, because her last two litters had been 7 and 8 puppies, but we realized that can happen sometimes...
At this time we're not yet advertising the pup... We're just not quite ready to do that and so will be enjoying him for the next week or two until we decide whether we're going to keep him ourselves or sell him. We will keep updated once we decide...
