“Am I the drama?” 👀💅🏼

Lexi was found in the desert in the middle of the night at about 4-5 weeks old. The finder could not keep her, so we took her in! She has been a bunch of joy ever since.

This fur ball is full of energy, and she somehow manages to get ALL of our foster kitties to play with her. Her favorite things to do are zoomies, play with Marilla, and lounge in the catio with Chanel. She’s an explorer, and her favorite spot is being inside the toy tunnel we have. Lexi is very particular in how she expresses affection. She does not like to be pet first. She would rather be the one to initiate affection by running through your legs first and then going in for the pats and scratches.

The perfect family for her: a family with that will keep her active and playful. She does well with other cats and children. How she does with dogs is unknown.

Lexi has not been microchipped, spayed, or vaccinated as of yet but will be at the time of transfer of ownership.

Adoption fee is $55, upon approved application.

“I'm watching you, Wazowski. Always watching.” 👀

Charlotte was formerly known as Judy - Moody Judy to be exact. She is the cat known for her millions of expressions, and some might even call her a Sour Patch Kid. First, she’s sour, then she’s sweet.

Charlotte was found at just a few weeks old in an industrial lot in Perris, CA. Fate had it that I would find this spicy kitty all alone bare-boned and infested with fleas on a random Wednesday morning at 6AM. She was a feral kitty, and it felt like a top-secret mission to capture her. However, I knew I couldn’t leave her. She was so tiny, either starvation was going to take her out or the infestation of fleas were 😬

She was taken off the streets at a young age, but her feral tendencies never fully went away despite socializing. She isn’t a big fan of human interaction - which I believe was due to her experience at the vet on the day of her spay procedure (story for another time). She will allow the occasional pat on the head from time to time, and she will hangout a foot away from you. However, the minute you extend your hand out to pet her when she’s not on guard is the moment she decides to make a run for it. Despite not wanting to be touched, she’s a sweet and beautiful cat that loves to play with the others. She especially loves when the loser pointer comes out lol.

The perfect family for her: Charlotte needs an experienced cat owner(s) with no small children in the home. This is not negotiable. She needs someone that will give her patience and the space she needs to trust in others. She is good with other cats and dogs. She particularly loves to be affectionate with our other foster, Wolfenstein. Her lack of need/want for human touch may make her a good candidate to be a barn cat.

Charlotte is:
❌ Microchipped
✔️ Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated

Adoption fee is $55, upon approved application.

Anyone interested in adopting Charlotte can submit our ‘Cat Adoption Application’ (link in bio). For further questions, please email me - Viri - at [email protected]

Chanel, like Marilla, was in danger of being euthanized at the shelter. We adopted her out with Marilla and another black cat named Scratchy - who has since been adopted out. Chanel had shut down being in that cage and was awaiting her end until we removed her from the shelter. When she arrived with us, she would not eat or interact, and it took quite a while for her to come out of her shell.

Today, Chanel is no longer the shut down cat we initially met her as. She’s still a bit skittish, but she likes company. Chanel is the most curious cat of the fosters we have. She will get into whatever she can just to be nosey. She loves to play (especially with Lexi), but she will never pass up the opportunity to explore if given the chance. She can almost always be found hanging outside in the catio, regardless of the temperature outside.

The perfect family for her: a family that will love and adore her, and give her all the play time she needs. She will also need a family that can provide her with plenty of simulation (and a catio). She does well with other cats, children, and she tolerates dogs.

Chanel is:
✔️ Microchipped
✔️ Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated

Adoption fee is $55, upon approved application.

Did you know black cats have the least chance of making it out of the shelter compared to other cats? 🐈‍⬛

Marilla here was in danger of being euthanized before we adopted her out of the shelter. Her soul was shattered being in that cage. She had no desire to socialize seemed as though she knew what was coming for her. She had already been in the shelter for months. Wild for Whiskers wasn’t an established nonprofit yet to establish pull rights, but knowing her condition and the statistics of black cats, we couldn’t leave her. Ha

It took her months to decompress, and even now - a year later - she is still wary of people. Marilla is the shyest cat of our fosters, but she is also the calmest. She enjoys lounging around and sunbathing. She also loves to play with our youngest foster, Lexi. She’s an observer and would rather keep her distance from others, but she doesn’t mind scratches on the head.

The perfect family for her: a calm, low-energy individual family. She would best fit in a home without other pets and no small children; however, she enjoys being around Lexi if you’re interested in adopting both of them out.

Marilla is:
✔️ Microchipped
✔️ Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated

Adoption fee is $55

Anyone interested in adopting Marilla can submit our ‘Cat Adoption Application’ (link in bio). For further questions, please email me - Viri - at [email protected]

He’s the sweetest chonk I ever did see 🥹

This gentle giant is Wolfenstein. His way of greeting people is to plop down on the ground so you’ll rub his belly. He’s the most affectionate, kind, and chonky cat you’ll ever meet. He gets his size from genetics because all 4 of his brothers are big boys too 😂

Anyone interested in adopting Wolfenstein can submit our ‘Cat Adoption Application’ (link in bio). For further questions, please email me - Viri - at [email protected]

We have 1 foster that needs to be spayed & vaccinated. I’ve also seen 4 new faces hanging around the colony cats - with 1 being a kitten around 4 or 5 months old. I’d love to capture the kitten and domesticate it, but with having an unspayed kitten already and rising maintenance expenses, I can’t take on the risk or costs.

Also to throw it out there, spay/neuter procedures here in town range from $125-$350. I have already utilized the maximum amount of any and all resources in the area to help offset costs.

If you would like to donate:

Cash: please contact

For items, please email or text me (760.662.7668)

You will receive a receipt for any donation made.

My main focus is to spay/neuter the cats in the area to prevent more homeless animals.

About the cats:
Lexi is our most recent addition. Her energy and playfulness make her the life of the party. She prefers to touch than to be touched which means she will probably dodge your attempts to pet her but be wrapped around your legs the next minute. She’s a fun little character to be around.

Chanel is a spicy kitty that will need an experienced cat owner. She was found as extremely feral kitten and still lacks trust in people overall. She will need someone that will put in the time to earn her complete trust. She loves to play and snuggle with the other foster cats, but people? She’d rather keep an arms length away.

Chanel is the most curious cat of them all. She will peak into any room, drawer, or cupboard she can get her little paws into. She loves to play with Lexi, but her ultimate favorite thing to do is sunbathe. She’s definitely a kitten at heart.

Marilla is the calmest of them all. While she likes the occasional play with the others, she prefers to lounge around and watch the others. Every once in a while, her curiosity will shift her around, but she loves to hang out on the cat tree more than anything.

Wolfenstein is a gentle giant. He’s a big chonky boi with the kindest soul. He will drop himself on the floor at any given moment for a belly rub. He’s absolutely a family cat because he would rather hang out with people more than all the catnip in the world.

Wild for Whiskers: 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔹𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪 💝
- a long one 🫡

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Viri. On paper, I’m the Founder/Director of Wild for Whiskers.

In Fall 2019, I was both a full-time college student and employee. I was a volunteer at the SPCA in Fresno for some time, but eventually, my class and work schedule limited me from volunteering; however, I still wanted to help shelter animals. It was also during this time that I no longer enjoyed my major, but it was already too late in my college career to change my studies.

I wanted to pursue marketing, but with no experience to show for it, I knew landing a career was going to be an issue. I knew the next best thing I could do was create my own marketing project.

So, I brainstormed. I wanted to create a project that could help shelter animals while simultaneously contributing to my “marketing project.” I threw all sorts of ideas out there in a group chat with my two best friends and sister - Abi, Natalie, & Annie. Thankfully, they never blocked me for the millions of messages 😂😂

Finally, the idea to begin a dropshipping store selling pet products came about. A brand was needed for the store, and this brand would be used to network homeless animals across the west coast. In retrospect, it wasn’t the greatest combination to achieve the desired results, but life is about trial & error 🤷🏻‍♀️ Those are the origins of Wild for Whiskers, and today, just three years later, WFW an official 501(c)3 (& the whole marketing career thing has been scratched since then 😂).

WFW has always been a brand, per-say, focused on the shelter animal. The animal that has been forgotten. The animal that has been rejected. The animal that has been failed. WFW has evolved from its once dropshipping store into an actual rescue (small but mighty). If you would’ve asked me back then did I think WFW would be a rescue, I would’ve given you the brow 🤨 None of this could have been or could be possible without my best friends, sister, and family. While we’re still in our early years, I have big plans for growth and I’m excited for what the future holds 🥳Thanks for reading!

It’s been an idea of mine to dedicate an entire day for family/individual portraits in exchange for donations for Ellie (pictured). She needs dental surgery to remove multiple teeth, which isn’t going to be cheap. Would love to know people’s thoughts on this.

CA DECLAW BAN HEARING ON TUESDAY, APRIL 26 - Please participate!

On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the California Assembly Committee on Business and Professions will be conducting a hearing of AB 2606 which proposes a state-wide ban on declawing cats.

Declaw surgery is not a nail trim, but a surgical amputation of the last joints of a cat’s toes. Claws are a very important part of a cat’s anatomy, so declawed cats cannot perform many of their everyday behaviors, can feel unsafe without their natural protection, and can experience issues with walking and balancing. The pain and discomfort caused by declaw surgery can lead to permanent physical and mental harm.

Stray Cat Alliance is sending Stephanie Medrano, Safe at Home Program Director, to participate in-person in Sacramento. You, too, can participate and lend your voice in support of this ban. A link to listen to the hearing is included below. Mark your calendar to participate in this historic hearing.

Yesterday, Maryland became the second state after New York to ban cat declawing! Let's do this! The more California residents to join, the better! 👏

We try not to share bad news all the time but to be honest, adoptions are moving VERY slowly in Canada🇨🇦 The team spends countless hours processing applications and to also have adopters back out is even more heartbreaking 💔 Dogs are beginning to pile up at the garden and we sure could use your shares to help find these babies their forever homes🏡

Our current count at the garden is approximately 659 pups and rising with 52 currently in the TPGHR section alone 🌳 💛 Emre found 5 more children abandoned at a shelter. He could not leave them behind and they are making their way to the garden to begin to heal and receive the care needed. We can’t say no, they need our help😭

With so many pups at the garden and the weather warming up☀️the team in Turkey has also been busy administering dewormer along with Bravecto & NexGard to a majority of residents at the garden. Not only did all of the TPGHR babies get parasite treatment but we also were able to help some of the other sections of the garden as well 🥳

What started as a small patch of land with a handful of dogs 🐶 has blossomed into the paradise it is today but we can’t take all the credit. It is what it is today because of you, our followers, our adopters and our volunteers. Please consider sharing previous posts of available garden pups, we always update our social media posts when a pup has been adopted. Our website is also up to date with those still looking for homes. Canada we need your help, the garden babies NEED your help 🙏🏼💛

Today’s been an extremely emotional, bittersweet day.

Five kitties left to find their forever homes in San Diego. I know they’re on to live their best lives, but they each took a part of my heart with them 🥺 ngl, I’ve been crying over an hour, but I knew this day would come. This is absolutely what they deserve and I’m not going to keep that from them.

But boy does my heart hurt 😭

This little guy is Sir El Chapo. When I rescued him I promised him I would care for him till he got a family of his own. I’m trying my best to give him that. I’ve been renting a beautiful little house for two years 8 months. Now they want to sale it. I’m facing relocation. Right now the market is crazy. Homelessness is at a all time high. Running a rescue takes it’s toll on you. Then add in the stress of trying to buy a home without working for a year. Well, I am working my tail off to make it happen. I have no choice. I have all these animals depending on me. I could sofa surf if push came to shove if it was just me. However it’s not just me. I have a bunch of helpless tiny lives counting on me. I have no spouse to depend on. Everything is my doing. It’s scary and I’ve never felt this alone. If I can pay off two credit cards I would secure the home loan. Sounds easy but it’s not. That’s 7k I need. I’m a little angry at myself. If I hadn’t taken on so many animals I’d be golden. Idk what would of happen to the animals in my care. Some might have been rescued some might not have. I look at each one and think well, it might be hard but it’s been worth it. So I am counting my blessings. While working to get the donations to be able to keep my promise to these animals. I wish I didn’t have to ask for help but truth is I have no other option at this time. If you can donate to our rescue please now is the time. https://venmo.com/u/ccscompassionaterescue https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/ccscompassionate?locale.x=en_US

♥️ P L E A S E share!

I have just a few short weeks to find homes for these adorable faces (along with a few others), so the sooner they find homes, the better. So PLEASE share this post to help me find them all good homes.

Each cat has a very different personality from the next. I also have plenty of information to give about their temperaments, so if you have questions about a specific cat, please feel free to ask in the comments or send me a DM!

They are all spayed/neutered & vaccinated. Ages vary.

Oliver - male, 1 yr
Krizz-tina - female, 1 yr
Marillah - female, 1 yr
Wolfenstein - male, 1 yr
Scratchy - male, 3yr

Marillah & Scratchy I pulled from a shelter (different litters), while Oliver, Krizz-tina, & Wolfenstein come from the same litter my family & I took in a while back.

Those interested in adopting, please send me a DM. My name is Viri.

I care for them and pay for all expenses myself (food, medical procedures, etc.), so I am requiring a $55 rehoming fee to ensure they go to homes that truly want them. I will also require an initial home check for their safety (I am willing to drive for those out-of-town that are interested in adopting).

Update Thursday evening-such a sweet pup who was crying in pain and has been given great pain meds. He is sleeping now.

He will go in for surgery first thing tomorrow morning to remove the eye that was oozing green. Hairline fractures in left leg that will heal. He is loved and we will take care of him. Thank you everyone ❤️

Please share -donate -send prayers to this baby chi with freckles who we named Joe. Only about two months old.

This puppy was laying in front of someone’s house. Right eye is protruding. Appears to have two broken front legs. He’s in bad shape.

Headed fo vet right now.

We will update with diagnosis once we get one.

Thank you from us and Joe.
