So, up until last year I thought this was something that was really unlikely to ever happen in the areas I walk... until - it did!! 😕

Poor Ronnie got bitten by a snake (thought to be an adder by the vet) last year while out on one of our walks, Thankfully he was ok. Now it's something I'm super cautious about, so here's a bit of info of what to look out for over the coming summer months. 🐍🐾🥾

I’m sorry you don’t like me, I can promise you I’m lovely.

But I want to know why,Is it because I’m bigger than the rest, or because I’m not shy?

Is it because I’m muscly and stand strong?
I’ve been after some love and affection for so long.

I don’t mean to hurt or scare you,
What about the collar I wear, is that intimidating too?

Would you prefer it if I was Curly and small?
It’s my long legs that make me so tall.

I’m a gentle giant, so I’ve been told.
But society has said I don’t fit the mold.

But society bred me, and wanted me to look like this
So why is fair that I’m now on the list?

What about those that look like me, the Staffies, mastiffs, even the frenchies?

Will they come for them next?
Why are some better than all the rest?

What about my owners, do they not get a say? Or will I be just be dragged away one day?

What about those who abused me and made me bite?
I told them I didn’t want to fight.

They’re not even getting punished, let alone banished.

But that’s because the resources aren’t available yet.
But those who bred me, made me available for anyone to get.

What about those who want to keep me, and train me. I’m fine with that.
But my owner said she can’t afford the fees and contracts.

Training is expensive and the time needed is extensive.
From what’s been said time is running out, and I can’t even shout for help.

They want me to wear a muzzle, and walk on lead only.
That means my walks are going to be lonely.

I’d then miss out on important interactions.
Therefore I’d need even more distractions.

Is it really just the way I look? Would you do that to your own pack?
Just stab them in the back like that?

What hurts the most is I don’t even know this is coming, if I knew what was ahead, I’d start running…
