It all started after discovering road side, local, Maine honey in the laundromat parking lot after emerging from 2 loads deep. While waiting for the dryer, I ran to Wal-Mart to grab a few necessities (because that's what you do around here) and was bombarded by the tourist smores trap, there were 3 strategically placed in the middle of the aisle in varying locations around the store. This led to googling grain- free graham cracker recipes whilst in the store because it isn't enough to just have one allergy to all things gluten. I now have a secondary rice allergy on top of the gluten, which really makes life the MOST fun because everything must now be grain free. That was a hard one for this Lousiana girl who's obsessed with her Momma's red beans and rice.
The afternoon may have started innocent enough with that impromptu 3 lb. jar of honey as a reward for braving the laundromat, but it ended with pure indulgence on a WHOPPER of a homemade smore. We're talking King size. It's a WILD Friday night up here, folks. King sized with the King.

A little EHR training this morning in the office. I've got my office window open to enjoy the 60 degree weather on this cool summer morning (words I've never uttered a day in my life). Bonus, the evergreens outside my window provide quite the ambiance for my eyes and ears 🐦. Happy Friday from Maine!

When you HAVE to use produce before it turns, there is no better way to dispose of it than a loaded veg fritatta.... plus cheese. Always cheese.

Green!!! Considering the pj's im currently lounging in are blue, these beautiful, organic celery tops i've dehydrated and ground into powder will hopefully save me from getting pinched today.
Dried celery leaves make a great and FREE substitute for parsley and when you mix in some sea salt, it makes a great Bloody Mary rimmer (celery 🧂).

After 16 years together, this is what we chose to do to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Who am I kidding, this is what we choose to do every Saturday morning.
We love being home and all of the comfort it provides. We love hanging with the pups and we LOVE snuggly blankets. But, most importantly, we love each other.
I don't need shiny baubles, luxury vacations, or fancy meals to celebrate the life we have built together. Don't get me wrong, they are nice on occasion, but not necessities. This is what I need. I need the everyday, mundane activities TOGETHER. As long as I'm with her, I'm happy.
She's my safe place, my fortification. She makes me feel seen, heard and understood. She supports the way I nourish my soul through creativity, because it usually involves her in some way contributing to my ideas (and she does it with a fervor, for my benefit). She shares the same wanderlust for new life adventures. She encourages me when I feel defeated, when imposter syndrome settles in hard core, when I'm having to make lemonade because well... life, or when she can simply look at me and know. She is my replenishment and revitalization. She is my daily bread.
Happy Anniversary, my darling girl.

I guarantee my social media algorithms are vastly different from yours. The people I follow are canning up a storm this month and calling it Canuary. Genius, and I was inspired. This was a dairy free chocolate ganache gone wrong that became a shelf stable chocolate sauce for another day.
Mistakes can be beautiful, you just have to spin them into opportunity right for you. There is no one size fits all recipe for life... or ganache. Make it your own, babe.

My mom is in town helping take care of me and all I've been able to think about for weeks is her vegetable and beef tip stew with a slab of buttered cornbread. The first thing she did upon arrival was execute my request. She made a giant stock pot and I've been eating on it at every opportunity. When you're healing you want nourishment, but you also want the things that feed your soul. This stew and cornbread are checking ALL the healing boxes. Thank you Mom.

She's been by my side for 15 years and in those 15 years she has been my constant. However, since Monday she has been so much more. She has been killing herself to get here super early to see me and bring me food because the hospital hasn't been too accommodating to my gluten free diet. She then leaves and has had to go to work or grocery shop, or let the dogs out while I sleep. She comes back around mid morning to check on me and help me freshen up for the day and go for our first hall walk, then I go back to sleep. She comes back for the dinner hours for our last hall walk of the day and to spend time with me before I am out for the night. The theme here is that she is going from sun up to sundown to be everything for me while I'm awake and still take care of the dogs and our home life. Tonight she crawled in bed with me as we watched the new Hallmark movie and shortly after, she was passed out. With everything happening the past week, it was a moment of normalcy but also such a tender moment that really tugged on my heart. I'm so in love with this woman.

Trick or Treat
Amy made some sugar cookies and I thought, you know, I have a cute cookie press/cutter for just the occasion. Or, so I thought and that's where sprinkles entered the picture. I actually thought they would help. Maybe I can tell my classmates tomorrow a local kindergarten class decorated them? No one would question it.
They may look like a trick but they are certainly a treat.

Halloween party
Is it even a party if you dont have a scrumptious, themed cake? Did I mention this beauty is gluten free? A sweet friend made it for us with only a few days warning and it was so delicious. Yellow cake and chocolate frosting is my ALL TIME favorite, just like my momma. Fitting considering we share a birthday.

We saw a box on our door step addressed to both of us and we had a staring contest for a few seconds expecting each other to take ownership for ordering something. When that didn't happen, we opened a perfect little package to find a PERFECT little blown glass pumpkin all the way from an artist in Massachusetts. Thank you so much Aunt Roberta! If you've ever been to a glass blowing class you know this wasn't easy! The artist did such an amazing job. I was Jonah Hill, hands up, mouth open, squealing with joy!
