Eldritch Geckos

Our handmade Pottery Hides are fully Vitrified and completely waterproof! They are used for Fish, Amphibians, Spiders, and Reptiles! (We do not recommend pottery hides for small Mammals that Chew as it can result in broken teeth)

They will never get hotter than what you have your thermostat heat set to on the hot side of your enclosure, and are great on the cooler side of your enclosures as they will be the ambient temperature of the cooler side.

They hold humidity very well in Tropical environments, or in moist hides, and stay dry in Arrid enclosure setups.

Animals that bask love using these hides to bask on.

We do not Ship our Pottery Hides due to the nature of pottery. But we do always have them available on location in Springfield Mo, and Jacksonville Ar, at the Show me Reptile and Exotic shows! Weather permitting, we will always be there!

Chinease Cave Geckos are a Nocturnal Species Native to the lowland Rainforests of China, Vietnam, and Chinease Islands of Hainan and Cat Ba.

They are quite possibly one of my favorite Species we keep and Breed here at Eldritch Geckos. They have very shy and Docile personalities, and usually want to be left alone, especially during Daytime hours.

But Sally here at Eldritch Geckos is a little different then the other Chinese cave geckos we keep. She likes to come out sometimes during the daytime to eat, and sometimes she will sit with her head outside her hide and watch us while we work with the other animals during daylight hours.

Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, has been with us for almost a year now. She was so shy and skiddish, and this week she is finally comfortable enough coming out and interacting with us. She comes out and investigates what we are doing and even comes to the front of the glass to be let out now. It took almost a whole year, but this girl has come a really long way from being so shy and skiddish of us when we are present.

Choice based handling takes time, and we practice that with all of our breeders. You let the Animal choose when to be handled (outside of welfare checks and tank maintanance) and this week she came out of her tank and into my hand all on her own, and let us handle her for 5 minutes before she walked along our hands and back into her tank when she was done.

Building relationships with our animals is very important to us at Eldritch Geckos. They are very special, unique souls, and each one is so very different. This was a break through moment with this beautiful Gargoyal Gecko, where she finally gave us her trust and began to show us who she really is.

We wanted to share this moment we had with our followers. Every animal is different. Some may be sassy, sweet, grumpy, or indifferent, and some may never get around to wanting to be handled. But that is the beauty of keeping these amazing animals. Each one is so very different and can be appreciated and loved, even if they never want to be handled or only tolerate it. Always be patient with your animals. Trust takes time, even if it seems like it takes forever.

At the Show me reptile show today here in Jacksonville Ar and Arkansas Reptile Rescue did a great presentation about the importance of animal Husbandry and understanding the care requirements for different animals. If you haven't already checked out Arkansas Reptile Rescue, please do. They do wonderful rehabilitation for surrendered and rescued animals and love helping out keepers that have questions about the care and Husbandry for their animals
