Well it looks like little Miss Scarlett has grown some legs, and some brains, and decided that sheād prefer not to be left in her pen. Adolescence is FUN! š
William might think heās a Newfoundland like his big brother! I have never had a Cavalier that swam, so Iām shocked to hear of a few of these pups taking to water like this. Good Boy William ā¤ļø
*Puppy Spotlight*
I thought I would do something fun with the puppies that are still here, and give the world a little insight into their adorable personalities as they trickle out over the next week. First up is

Iāve said it before but Iāll say it again, he is the funniest dude! Hes the last boy left here in a house of girls. Heās an absolute tank and eats like itās going out of style. His nickname is Zeppelin (like the blimp kind!) Heās been known to starfish himself in the bowl so that nobody else can get to the food.
He has a very unique personality, and is a bit more independent than your average Cavalier. From as soon as he could walk, we would often find him chilling on his own, when all of the other puppies were sleeping in a pile. Heās still like that and he has a spot in the doorway of the pen where he spends most of his sleeping hours with his head up on the ledge by himself. He can give some amazing snuggles though. This week, he showed me that he has some serious therapy dog potential while he snuggled with a grieving friend and just instinctively knew exactly what to do. He first was calm, and then he licked away her tears, and then he had her smiling, all while being held and was so patient and never squirmed to be put down. ā¤ļø
He is just a super easy going guy, but he gets the most amazing zoomies EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. He goes home tomorrow and we are so sad to see him go, but canāt wait to see how much love and laughter heāll bring to his new fam!
And just for fun, hereās a video from tonight at ground zero!

We call this āThe witching hourā and itās hard to capture the full scope of whatās happening, but itās 11 manic puppies, with lots of energy and no direction! Itās a very normal part of having a puppy, but can be really frustrating or challenging for new families to deal with.
The witching hour can involve 1 or all of the following superpowers on any given night.
- The ability to seek and destroy ANYTHING they arenāt supposed to have.
- Running so fast in many different directions at the same time until you canāt control your legs and you slam into a wall.
- Parkour-ing off of you, walls, and furniture.
- Biting your hands and feet incessantly until you bleed.
- Barking into the void, just to hear your own voice.
And many, many other fun things.
The saying goes āA tired puppy, is a good puppyā however an *overtired* puppy can also be an overstimulated mess. Behaviour management is key during the witching hour. Puppy safe chews/ puzzle toys/ and engagement (like training with play) are your best friends.
Expect the witching hour to start precisely at the exact time you want to sit down for the night and snuggle your sweet little puppy. Another puppy superpower is to sense that you are tired and immediately turn into the cutest little T-Rex youāve ever seen.
Meanwhile, I sit back and enjoy x11 every evening with my hands and feet pulled up onto the chair so they canāt reach me ā¤ļø
Tonight we had another case of the zoomies, but this time it was Mama Dizzy!
I wish I had a fraction of the patience with my kid, as Maja has with hers!
(Also, she was in the bed, left the bed, and then she came back and wormed her way back in so I have zero sympathy for her! She actually wants to be in there!)
Classic Conditioning at work, as well as puppies learning their manners, that we donāt jump for food!
I challenge anyone with a previous Castleglen a puppy to play this video with the Volume up and let me know what they do!
This is how the puppies nurse for the last few weeks. 2 moms + 11 puppies + 19 nipples in total = Fat, fed, and happy puppies ā¤ļø
