This full day workshop will be an introduction to the skills needed for AKC ISC Agility because we'll have our first ISC trial here in WNY the following weekend.

If you've never heard of AKC ISC agility, it's the type of courses they have in Europe and the trial will have opportunities for everyone.

There are 3 levels and Level One is very much like UKI beginner/novice, the courses are straightforward and flowy with about 16 obstacles in a course. If you've competed in any beginner or novice agility, whether UKI, NADAC or AKC, you'll find Level One fun! Even if you don't enter the ISC trial this year, you'll get a taste for what it's all about and be ready next time!

Seminar details:
What: Full day seminar with Linda Saab (read more about her below), focused on skills needed for Levels 1 and 2, as well as trying out those skills on a full course.
When: Sunday, September 15th, 10 am to 5:30 pm

Requirements: Working spot dogs must be able to perform all the equipment, Linda will tailor each exercise to you and your dog and work with you no matter where you are at with skills.

Star earned her UKI International Agility Championship title for the 10th time. (For those AKC folks, it's like earning a MACH 10 times over.) It's been an amazing journey with the best dog ever.

Star will also be celebrating her 8th birthday next week. She can't wait to celebrate a little early this weekend when her sister Vanish will be here with Emily Klarman. Emily's seminar that we are hosting is full, but we still have auditing spots available!

AGILITY SEMINAR JULY 20-21 with Emily Klarman!

Emily Klarman is a multiple time agility world team member (WAO, AWC and EO teams), she had a first place run at the World Agility Open, won AKC Nationals, the Purina Incredible Dog Agility Challenge and at Westminster!

Emily is coming to teach a 2 day seminar here at Heather's Dog School in Corfu, NY. She teaches full time at United Dog in Pennsylvania. She primarily uses OneMindDog methods and is a positive and encouraging teacher and coach. It's not often a coach of this caliber comes to us in WNY!

Working spots are for a full day of working with Emily, with a maximum of 8 working spots (so you get lots of one-on-one time with Emily). You can sign up for just one day or both Saturday and Sunday. THERE ARE JUST A COUPLE SPOTS LEFT!

For a working spot, your dog must know how to perform all the agility equipment and have at least some experience with UKI courses or AKC Excellent level (just as an approximation of general experience level, you don't have to have actually competed). This seminar is intended to take your training to the next level!

Each morning will have two different courses, AKC ISC level 2-3 (UKI senior/champ or masters series level and beyond) where we’ll work through it bit by bit to see where each team’s strengths and weaknesses are. Then the afternoon will focus on honing in on your weaker skills using some smaller setups. Skills we’ll likely focus on because they are common issues and are trends we're seeing currently at trials are: layering, hard weave entries, various forms of threadles and discriminations.
If you've thought about wanting to try harder courses, this will be a great introduction for the skills needed.

Cost is $300 for one full day. Auditing spots are $25/half day.

We have 2 outdoor agility yards and a 50 x 50 foot building with matting made just for agility, A/C, heat, etc. so we can also train all year long!

My classes are limited to 3 dogs, so that you get lots of training and coaching time from me and lots of fun time for your dog. It's the best way to learn!

I'm considering offering daytime agility classes on Wednesdays at my place in Corfu, NY for people new (newish) to the sport, send me a PM if interested.

We have two outdoor agility fields and a 50 x 50 foot heated and air conditioned building, and all the best equipment! I've taught and coached hundreds of agility teams of many different breeds and I'd love to help YOU have the most fun with your dog!

I don't do new year's resolutions, if you want to make a change or have a new goal, it's best to start right then, not wait for an arbitrary moment on the calendar.

It was March of 2023 when I was inspired to a new goal by my friend Emily who introduced me to ISC agility (AKC's International Sweepstakes Class). Because of her confidence in me and Star we went to several ISC trials.

Since then, Star and I have stood on a podium a few times, earned our way to the European Open AKC Team Tryouts (which were this past December), and won a Bye to the AKC World Team Tryouts (which will be this spring). We also got brave and tried out for the World Agility Open Team at the UKI Open in November. We haven't made it on a team yet, but we're gonna keep showing up and doing our best.

Star earned her 9th International Agility Champion title from UKI and the UKI IAWC title for the 7th time, that just means she has lots of points from first place runs.

2023 was a busy year, full of ups and downs and lots of special moments. The best part is stepping to the line each time with my very bestest friend, no matter how our run went my real goal is to see her happy face and waggy tail as we finish and walk off the field together.

I don't know what 2024 will bring. Who knows if we'll make it on a team or not, but we'll have fun trying. My main goal is to work on my mental game, which is the biggest thing holding us back. Either way, Star and I will be having fun together and making memories that will last a lifetime.

I'm also looking forward to another fun year with my students. I have plans for some new training to offer, both here and online, so stay tuned!
