Yesterday we had the pleasure of giving our very first recipient their wheels!

The super adorable "Cashew" took to her new wheels right away and will now be able to run freely with her brother :) I look forward to hearing about their adventures.

**UPDATE** Due to weather conditions on Sunday we were not able to fit a device. We will be trying again tomorrow night and will post an update after that :)

The first dog that is benefiting from this program is coming tomorrow morning for a wheelchair fitting. Further details and pictures to be posted tomorrow! :)

One of the items acquired that is available through this program is the Balto Double Knee Brace (Size Large). According to the website:

BT-JUMP-DUAL is a dog double knee brace designed for cases of bi-lateral cruciate ligament, luxation of the patella, knee joint conditions such as arthritis and arthrosis. The two splints inserted bring strong support. It can be used both as an alternative to surgery and in post-surgery (TTO, TTA, TPLO, DeAngelis)

This dog leg brace can also be used without the rigid splints for mild support. Applications vary from protection of the controlateral “good knee” to painful arthritis in the stifle.

Designed for:

Bilateral knee conditions
Old dogs (general degenerative process)
Overweight dogs (High pressure on the good leg)
Active dogs with a pronounced compensation behavior. The healthy hind leg is compensating for the injured hind leg that the dog is lifting while walking/running.

Thank you all for accepting my invite to this page.

As you may or may not know, I am starting a free pet mobility loaner program in and around the Peterborough area in the next 2-3 weeks. This much needed program will provide mobility devices for families who cannot afford them so their loved fur member can enjoy life again!

I am currently working with a rescue that has a similar program in place in Kitchener and sorting out the final details while I "stockpile" inventory. I have already had 3 requests for wheelchairs from families who are currently in need.

Over the next few days I will post pictures of some of the devices that will be available. There are wheelchairs, strollers, slings, braces and a drag bag so far. If anyone has one of these items laying around at home not being used please consider donating so another fur baby can benefit from you paying it forward.

In the meantime please share this page and let's get the info out there so we can help where needed :)

Lastly, I would like to that Kendra Batek for coming up with the perfectly suited name for this program :) Thanks Kendra!
