About our Anuradhapura Program
Tomorrow, [4th June 2024], we start our fourth program in the Anuradhapura district for 2024 with a 10-day program in the Anuradhapura Municipal Council, Nanupa, and Manupa areas.

I have received many comments and questions regarding the Anuradhapura program, one of which was, "Are you ONLY doing Anuradhapura?"
I am sharing this video from 2022 in which Dr. Chamith Nanayakkara explains the structure of the program.
This clearly shows why it is crucial that the program be goal-oriented and continue in a structured manner according to a specific long-term plan.

We have made significant progress [12,038 dogs and cats have been spayed and neutered in the district to date] towards our shared goal of supporting low-income communities and creating a more compassionate future for animals.

Wellawatte Beach Kitten #8 is one of the 5 older homeless cats living on a rocky outcrop, exposed to the sun and rain, with no access to shelter or food. This affectionate and friendly cat was already beaten once by a fisherman when she tried to steal fish from his bucket.

Rescue Diaries
While animal rescue work can be overwhelmingly sad and heartbreaking, the suffering of homeless animals is unimaginable.
This tiny, frail kitten was found with broken bones, a damaged spine and severe internal injuries.

Effects of Depo-Provera
The Government [Public Health Veterinary Services] proposes to commence chemical sterilization of free-roaming female dogs.
Depo-Provera is a contraceptive injection not approved for use in animals. Depo-Provera has life-threatening side effects, including Pyometra, which is caused by the womb filling with pus and, if left untreated, it can lead to kidney failure, toxaemia, dehydration, and, in most cases, death.
Please share this post to create awareness of the deadly consequences of using this drug.

10.00am and already over 20 “owned” dog’s + 15 homeless dog’s have been brought to the program.
Well disciplined owners & their pets wait patiently in line for spay-neuter-vaccinations OR vaccination/treatments.
🐾 Rs.2,000 will change the life of ONE animal and hopefully reduce the numbers of those living a life of misery - starving, abused, unloved - on our streets.
Estimate number in 7 day = 420 animals / Rs.840,000 required
