This post is in regard to a post yesterday from a member (anonymously)asking for help to teach her ferret not to nip when she picks her up.
Debbie Saul’s comment/advice was to “flick her on the nose with your finger”
This answer is cruel, totally unacceptable, and goes against our group rules.
Please do not offer advice unless you know it’s correct, does no harm and is within our group rules.
TOTALLY CRUEL no matter how “light” you do it. Please DO NOT follow this advice.
NOSE BOPPING/FLICKING
Do not recommend flicking, hitting, booping, smacking, etc.. a ferrets nose. This is an old antiquated way to nip train your ferrets and it is not effective. Our ferrets trust us not to hurt them, same with our other animals. Flicking the nose is painful (flick you own nose) and can cause damage to your ferret. If you do have a nipper/biter this will not help you gain trust. Don't do it, don't risk it and don't recommend it.
