Giving an update. I will officially be opening back up on Monday. Nov. 13th. My arm surgery went well and it has healed nicely. I can officially lift over 2lbs again so I can finally pick up Isopod enclosures again to do things with them once more.

Gonna probably be less active here in the next couple weeks. I have an arm surgery consultation on tuesday. Will be undergoing surgery soon in the future. I will need to put some things on hold for a bit until i have healed enough to work again. I will still do my best to post though I will hopefully feel like a brand new person after I am all healed up. I am being hopeful it will change my life to being able to do things as I use to so long ago.

Though Dermestid Beetles are the most commonly known for cleaning up carcasses for taxidermy and museums, so are Buffalo Beetles. These small beetles and their fuzzy larva are great as part of a cleaner crew. Here at The Biggs Bugs, they keep our Blaptica Dubia super clean and free from smells. The larva themselves are great feeders for baby animals, as well as small invertebrate and vertebrate species.

These are the 21 species of isopod approved by APHIS for PPQ 526 permits. Please be aware all other species are illegally available in the hobby. Perhaps more of those in the hobby can be made available if scientific documentation has proven them to be in the wild in the continental US. Until then, those other species are illegal.

Permits are required only for interstate travel [example Arkansas to Arizona] If receiving isopods, you will not need a permit as long as the sender has them.

You may create one permit for the majority of states but need to file seperately for California, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Oregon.

You do not need special containment to keep these 21 species.

Nesodillo Archangeli [Shiro Utsuri]

N. Archangeli is a species originating from around lakes and rivers of Taiwan. They enjoy live prey as well as decomposing plant and animal matter and algae.

Mine are kept at temperatures of 70 F to 75 F and prefer an enclosure of 1/2 moist to dry. They are a very prolific species and reproduce rapidly when kept properly.
