Ever see a feline agility competition? Ever think about entering your cat in an agility competition? Rescued/household pet cats, purebred cats, cats with disabilities can participate.
A 2-day feline agility competition is held every January at the San Diego Cat Fanciers Annual Cat Show at Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Feel free to contact us if you want to know more about training, entering a competition, what to expect, and more.

Can you imagine a poofy Persian running through the agility course? It can happen! While certain breeds (Japanese Bobtails, Egyptian Maus, Ocicats, and Turkish Angoras, for example) seem particularly skilled at agility, any cat of any breed is welcome to come chase a toy around the course! Companion cats (household pets) often excel. It's all about finding the right toy to motivate the cat -- and get it moving!

Good morning, All!
Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending SUPERZOO, North America’s premier pet retail trade show, specifically for pet professionals (retail, medicine, grooming, etc.). It was a wonderful opportunity for me to see new and emerging products. What I was most interested in was the latest and greatest in cat litter. All the big companies were there, but there were three that really stood out: Paco & Pepper, Catit, and World’s Best. Below are my thoughts about each; however, keep in mind that we are still testing the litters and will give our full opinion in a few weeks.

Cat it is rolling out (not available yet) a new litter that is more like round grains rather than their traditional pellets, and is made of bamboo. This might be a good option for those that use automatic litter boxes. Unfortunately, I was not able to get my hands on a sample so I can share my thoughts about performance.

World’s Best has released the newest formula in their line up: P**p Fighter. This is formulated to block and neutralize odors before the odors leave the litter box. It has a pleasant lemongrass scent. World’s Best provided me with a bag to test. So far, I’ve noticed that if in an enclosed area, the scent might be a little strong. This might be a good option for all open-top litter boxes and automatic litter boxes. More to come as we continue to test it.

My #1 pick so far is….PACO & PEPPER olive pit litter. I’ve been watching this company and was skeptical about the absorbabcy and clumping power of olive pits. After speaking with the founder and examining the litter, I was extremely surprised. Many litters claim to have low dust, but this one truely is. Honestly, I would feel confident in calling it “DUST FREE”. When we poured the litter into the litter box there was no dust cloud nor visible dust. The ground olive pits have a soft texture, is unscented, and is infused with olive oil (prevents drying the skin). At the moment, I’m testing this litter with our nursing mom and her kittens. In about two weeks I’ll let you all know how this turns out, but so far it looks very promising.
