Sadly, Sasha and Jay Z's owner is nearing the end of his life and we will need to move this bonded pair of 8 year old double dapples in the next few days. If you are not a fit for these pups, please share this post widely. We feel that a foster or adoption home is likely outside of our immediate network since we've been posting about these guys for months so we need your help in getting the story in front of someone with a Sasha and JayZ sized hole in their heart. They are currently located near Winston Salem, NC.

We are open to any of the following options:
1. A forever home in the eastern US where the family will drive to NC to adopt and drive them back if they must be returned. Preference given to families closer to NC, but at this point we are open if the family is the absolute perfect fit. Because of the logistics, we are not able to consider families on the west coast.

2. A foster home (or foster to adopt) anywhere in NC. We are also open to VA towns within 3 hours of Greensboro or Raleigh if the foster home is willing to help with transportation. We are also open to Myrtle Beach foster homes as well as foster homes in SC towns that are near the Charlotte Metro area.

A bit about these special dogs - They are 8 years old, very friendly and loving, get along great with kids and are housetrained. Sasha is blind and Jay Z is deaf. Because they are quite barky due to their disabilities, they need a home without shared walls. They need work with leash training, so if their home does not have a fenced yard then their new family will need patience in the beginning.

They need a cat free home since they are way too interested in cats. They are currently living with other dogs and can live with other dogs, but their new family will need to be willing to work through issues since they can be protective of themselves around other dogs. Sasha previously had bladder stones and is on prescription food - we have some ideas for a natural diet that would keep her healthy.

These pups are truly special dachshunds - both their needs and their amazing personality. You will not find a sweeter or more loyal pair of dachshunds. Yes, they come with their challenges, but we are 100% confident that their new family will be rewarded a million times over in love and kisses.

This is my big baby Abby. Funny story for everyone. First time I’ve ever been dragged by a dog🤷🏼‍♀️😂

We have had 2 sheep & 3 goats hanging out in our yard the past week. Pretty sure they belong to my neighbors.

Any who, we take Abby and my yorkie Sampson outside to potty yesterday. My mom drops the leash for Sampson & me being me I’m rushing to get him so he doesn’t run off. Meanwhile, Abby is on her leash that I’m holding as I’m rushing to get Sampson she thinks we are going to chase after the sheep.

Oh no...

Next thing I knew I was on the ground being pulled a good 20 feet, even through sheep 💩.

Patting myself on the back because I managed to keep ahold of Abbys leash even with all her 115 pounds pulling me & was able to grab Sampson (my yorkie) leash while on the ground. 👏 👏 👏

I didn’t want either of my babies escaping, running off because they don’t realize how AMAZING they have it here at home 😂 Wouldn’t last a night in the wild.

Morale of the story, need a sitter who is willing to take a beating to make sure your pets are taken care of and safe? I’m your girl. 💩😂

In a 48 hour period, the kitten on the left received 217 inquiries. The kitten on the right 3 inquiries. They both went up for pre-adoption at the same time.
Black Cat Syndrome (and Black Dog Syndrome) is a very real phenomenon. Black coated cats and dogs are often overlooked in shelter systems and rescues. They are more likely to be euthanized in overcrowded shelters and we have even heard of rescues shamefully refusing to take on black cats and kittens. To top it off, black cats face absurd and ridiculous stigmas which place them in danger. Ironically, black cats are often the most affectionate and loving cats.
When choosing to adopt, consider a black cat or kitten (or dog). Their odds of adoption are severely limited. They love just as much as any other loving cat.
