The VL Bloodstock team head to the races in search of black type today.

2yo filly Stockpin (TARZINO X Likeapins) makes her Raceday debut in the Phils Electrical & Gipsy Caravans - Ryder Stakes (1200m)

After strong trial performances and a week at Ruakaka this filly has absolutely thrived in her work and this has been her target race all prep.

She travelled down super and looks a picture.

The team has had an unforgettable week up at Ruakaka beach, settling in really well and thriving on the beach. The week culminates with a resuming race for Gentian Blue as she kicks off a new campaign in the Northpine Waipu Cup 1400m.

Swycho is also running, on the quick back up after an impressive fast finishing 4th at Tauranga last weekend.

So proud of GENTIAN BLUE and her performance yesterday as she stepped up to Group 1 level. Putting in a solid effort and running home strong to finish 5th in the NZEA NZ TB Breeders Stakes.

Sun and Heir (4H Tavistock x Sunsett) breaks his maiden status in style at Matamata.

So proud of this horse and the team behind him that have put in the hard yards to enable him to achieve this milestone in his career.

Brilliant front running ride by Joe Doyle, ‘Tav’ has improved in each start for the VL Racing team and once he got out to 1600m he showed his ability with a last start 2nd placing backed up by a dominant win 🥇.

A massive thank you to his wonderful owners and all his ‘People’ that have had a part to play in this horses journey.

A milestone day for a young member of the VL Racing team yesterday. Entitlement ( Shooting to Win x Patient) made her debut at Matamata over 1050m. Having run 3rd in a trial doing everything right we were looking forward to her debut. She jumped well and raced in behind the leaders. Turning for home every gap she took closed on her and she couldn’t get clear running up the length of the straight eventually finishing 4.6 lengths off the winner under a hold. The highs and lows of racing. She will have learned a lot from the experience and watch out for her next start 💪

Proud of Sun and Heir (Tavistock x Sunsett) today running a strong 2nd, 3rd up as he gets to a suitable trip. He showed his ability today and showed some grit and determination as he starts to figure out his job. Plenty of improvement in him as the tracks start to improve. A massive thanks to our team at home to get him to the races looking and feeling fantastic and to his wonderful group of owners for keeping the faith in this special horse 💪

Busy week for the team both at home and on the racecourse.

Leica Warrior ventured to Trentham and ran a gallant 4th in the mdn Steeplechase on very testing conditions.

Annetarz, Gentian Blue, Here’s Johnny and Sun and Heir ventured to Hawkes Bay multiple times as a result of race abandonments.

Annetarz (Tarzino) ran a dashing 2nd over 2100m and backed it up with an impressive 3rd 5 days later.

Here’s Johnny (Jimmy Choux) settled at the rear of the field over 2100m and showed real grit to run home for 6th showing he’s near peak fitness to have another go at hurdling.

Gentian Blue (Reliable Man) ran a nice 6th over 1600m and she was untested to the line and backed it up today with a strong finish for 4th showing us she’s looking for further.

Sun and Heir, after a promising trial at Taupo back in march, the tracks got to wet to trial again so we headed to the races over 1200m far to short of his best Tav jumped really well, settled in behind the speed and stuck on to run 6th in his first run for the stable. He will certainly come into his own as he steps up over ground.

Plenty to look forward to with this bunch and some exciting youngsters waiting in the wings

Great day at the jumping trials for some of the team as they prepare for their winter jumping campaigns.

Both boys had a hurdle trial over 2000m and jumped confidently with both riders happy with their efforts.

Leica Warrior - Emily Farr had a steeplechase trial 2700m and looked very happy in his work.

2yo Filly (Echoes of Heaven x Pansies) near and Annetarz (Tarzino x Anne Boleyn) far side having a jumpout on the grass this morning. nice to have the older horses show the youngsters the ropes. Very happy with both horses. Annetarz will head back to the races after a brief freshen up and Violet will head to the paddock for a week before we set her for her first public trial. Watch this space 👀🥇🏇

🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎HERE’S JOHNNY🐎🐎🐎🐎

The penny is dropping for this beautiful son of Jimmy Choux. Aided by a master ride by Doni Prastiyou, Johnny settled at the tail of the field early before getting a nice drag into the race 3 wide with cover down the back straight. Johnny showed a good turn of foot and real tenacity as he fought hard to the line for 6th place. The final 100m found his fitness having had some bad luck in his previous starts and not finishing his races.

We are thrilled for his wonderful owners Jan and Cindy Mortimer and grateful for their faith in us and their horse.

Keep an eye out in the future for Johnny!!

Change of pace today as the VL Racing team head to Te Rapa races for Sarten Memorial Raceday.

The stablemates go head to head in the Distinction Hotel @ Te Rapa 2400.

Leica Warrior - Bailey Rogerson (a3)- after a difficult jumping season filled with setbacks, Ian is nearing Peak fitness. Improved track conditions and a handy draw should see him get a soft run and hopefully he can be in the finish.

Here’s Johnny - Doni Prastiyou. After 3 luckless runs, being galloped on, dropped whip and having to jump a fallen jockey, stable character Johnny steps out of his grade to get over a suitable trip. He will get back from the draw and we hope to see him running through the line as he uses this race as a stepping stone towards staying races in the spring.

Good luck to all the connections and everyone enjoy a beautiful day at a premier racecourse.

Solid performances from stable mates Za'faran and Wind Chimes to run 3rd and 4th in the r75 Tivaci 2100 at Te Rapa Racing yesterday. Za'faran racing as a model of consistency as she learns her trade, while Wind Chimes really turned his form around as he got up over ground for the first time this prep.

A welcome addition to the New Zealand jumps riding ranks. Roisin Leech, arrived in New Zealand on Tuesday night from England, and rode at the Cambridge Jockey Club jumping trials today. Looking forward to getting her out there on raceday. Roisin rode "Here's Johnny" in his first hurdle trial and gave him a great experience and she also rode Leica Warrior in the steeplechase giving him a great ride. 🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇
