Hello everyone! I am Dr. Claus. Please allow me to tell you a bit about myself.
I am a veterinary criticalist (equivalent to an intensivist in human medicine). I am board certified in emergency and critical care medicine, so I am both an ER doctor and an ICU doctor for dogs and cats.
My love for animals was evident when I was a young girl, growing up in Texas. My family was informed that I wanted to be "an animal doctor" when I was 6, which was probably obvious when I using my little doctor's kit on our family dog, Plato, instead of friends and sisters.
My passion for emergency medicine developed early in my 20+years in the field, when I worked for a veterinary clinic that housed an after-hours ER. I set a goal of becoming a specialist so that I could provide the best care possible for the most sick and injured patients.
I live in a Dallas suburb with my husband and our two dogs, Bug and Alby. I am currently licensed in 7 states, and love traveling new hospitals, and learning new things from other doctors and technicians that I might not have met otherwise. This has truly been the most exciting and rewarding year of my career!
