Nicholas has been adopted by his fosters and is living his best life! Since his surgery, he's now able to chew food and groom himself like a normal kitty. He still loves going on outdoor adventures on his harness and is a very happy, loving boy. Congratulations to Nicholas and his family🥳

A couple more photos of our new baby Mothman 🖤 He's already surpassed the 300g mark today and his curious personality is coming through. He'll graduate from the incubator and onto wet food and litter training very soon!

Everybody meet Cedric (top), Hagrid (bottom) and Remus (not pictured but very similar). They were born at our local animal hospital under a shed. Once they were old enough to leave mom, they were trapped and surrendered to us. Cedric and Hagrid are ready to find their forever homes while Remus still needs time for proper socialization.

They are beautiful and absolute sweethearts. Please apply at bellavitanc.org to meet them!

We've been very busy! We have a few litters of kittens we havent even introduced yet. So Ill start with the BK crew-

These guys were found as neonates separated from their mothers. They're actually three separate ages. Once they were dewormed and deemed healthy- they were moved into the foster room to mingle with the soda crew. All 8 are doing fantastic, playing and growing every day.

In case you missed it- Nicholas had his jaw surgery earlier this week. We were able to fully cover it thanks to your support and a hefty financial donation from an anonymous angel 🖤

Nicholas is doing fantastic. He's learning to eat hard food and is playing/snuggling as normal. His face is still a bit swollen as he's recovering. He has a checkup in two weeks to check his healing.

Congratulations to Nicholas as he begins his new, much improved life with the ability to eat and groom like a normal kitty!

From a dog rescue, but the same applies to cats.

Simple Analogy — Why rescues can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water (pounds and shelters) gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues Groups are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and irresponsible people who won’t spay/neuter.

Please be kind to rescue groups, we are trying our best!

Learn about what to do if you find kittens!!! Bringing them to us DOES NOT SAVE THEM!! We need YOU to help with that! No need to register, just COME! This Saturday’s workshop is here at the shelter located at 430 Bristol Drive, here in Statesville from 11am-1pm. Bring all your questions, but leave the cats/kittens AT HOME or wherever you find them!!

Last week we took in a couple of day-old newborns. They're doing very well and being bottle-fed. We were surprised to see some eyeballs opening a bit earlier than usual at day 7!

Fanta and fizzy have graduated from the bottle and are now eating wet food!!

Please consider donating a case of wet kitten food or non-clumping kitten litter. Not only are Fanta and fizzy about to eat us out of house and home, but we have more kittens we haven't even introduced yet!!! They will need lots of support and food to grow big and strong.
