Marching to honor the lives lost daily due to our broken shelter system and demanding ACTION 🐾

Countless of animal’s life have been lost due to neglect, abuse, torture, and many other acts of brutality. Whether it’s at the hands of irresponsible owners, illegal breeders, untrained law officials, abusers, OR even the hands of the facilities that are supposed to offer shelter, while they wait to find their new homes. The constant blood shed from these innocent animals has stained our broken system permanently. Welcome to the new “normal” 🩸

IN SOLIDARITY—PLEASE WEAR RED OR WHITE TOMORROW 🔴⚪️ (not mandatory)

Animals aren’t capable of evil or of doing things out of spite, like humans do. Animals don’t know more than their natural instincts and don’t go out of their way to hurt others because they’re frustrated. Animals don’t say they’re done and dump their humans when things are too “difficult”. Animals don’t have a voice to those WHO DON’T LISTEN

But WE hear you.
We WILL stand for you.
We WILL speak for you.

These animals mattered when they were alive and they still do. Their innocence and purity lives on in the midst of this bloodshed 🤍

Hello Everyone,

We regret to inform you that the march has been rescheduled to Oct 8th, 11-2pm. Unfortunately, one of the two main organizers tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. We have been working hard at planning this protest for a month now! We’re still very much looking forward to marching for our animals!! We also take the safety of everyone attending this event very seriously. We truly apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Let’s keep the pressure ON! For over 10 years the animals at LA Animal Services have suffered the consequences due to the negligence and idleness of those appointed to protect them — past and present. We’re not accepting anymore of the same old thing!! Our animals keep suffering year after year. Volunteers and (the caring) staff working the floor are burnt out. Things just keep getting worse and worse!

PLEASE JOIN US, OCT 8TH! We will continue the fight, till the animals get the support they’ve always deserved. We demand change, the animals can’t wait any longer!! GM Stacyee Dains, Mayor Bass, and Council Members, you’re each making six figures per year with tax-payers money! YOU WANTED THE JOB, YOU GOT THE JOB, NOW DO YOUR JOB!

As COVID-19 cases are on the rise—be responsible, don’t forget to take care of yourself and others.

~ Part 1 in RED ~
11AM: We will be MEETING at City Hall PARK

➡️ Go down Main St. crossing 1st street past the Los Angeles Police Administration Building
➡️ Make a RIGHT and go down 2nd St. alongside grass area
➡️ Make a RIGHT on Spring St. and continue back to cross 1st St.
➡️ FINISH AT CITY HALL STAIRS FOR RALLY

~ PART 2 in YELLOW ~
2PM: After Guest Speakers

➡️ From CITY HALL STAIRS continue down Spring St.
➡️ Make a RIGHT on Temple St.
➡️ Make a RIGHT on Main St. and continue down until getting to City Hall Park
➡️ Cut through park to make RIGHT on Spring St. back to City Hall STAIRS

‼️ Our Mission & What We Demand ‼️

We are TIRED of having to tell government officials to do their jobs! To stop turning a blind eye to the crisis we are currently in.

These animals deserved a better future when they were alive & hopefully the rainbow bridge will treat them better than this world ever did…

Their lives still matter and we SHOULD remember them.
Remember they aren’t just a list of numbers or a bill to pay.
Remember they aren’t property to dispose of, use and abuse, or brutalize.

Remember that humans are supposed to be the intelligent species.

So how is it that an animal can empathize a million times better than the people we have “running” this city? 🤔

THIS IS TO A FUTURE WHERE ANIMAL WELFARE TAKES PRIORITY AND RECEIVES THE PUSH, FUNDING, & HELP IT DESPERATELY NEEDS 🐾

Thank you to the rescues and individuals who organized this protest at the Mayor’s house today

, keep trying to ignore the problem.
There will only be more of us keeping the pressure on because CHANGE NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW.
YOUR JOBS NEED TO BE DONE.
GET OFF YOUR ASSES & ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS SITUATION HAS GOTTEN OUT OF HAND & KILLING SHELTER ANIMALS ON A DAILY BASIS IS NOT A SOLUTION.

STOP the abuse.
STEP UP & do your job.

WHAT A JOKE ‼️

Why haven’t spay and neuter laws been enforced? Why aren’t illegal breeders getting fined? Why must ANYONE ELSE need to step up to do the job were elected to do 🤔

We are tired and heartbroken of seeing animal after animal suffering because of a broken system that has constantly failed them
Where is ?
Why aren’t you as outraged as the rest of us WHEN YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?

As for the “open, honest communication”- what communication has been had? What steps have been taken to reach out and work with rescues and advocates? Had there been, changes would’ve been implemented and enforced starting long ago.

This doesn’t even include the fact that volunteers are afraid to speak up for fear of being retaliated against or banned from volunteering altogether ‼️

The hypocrisy needs to stop NOW!

THE THOUSAND LIVES MARCH is taking place to honor the thousands of lives lost daily in our shelter system as well as out on the streets due to lack of accountability and irresponsibility from the city mayor and government officials who run the shelter system. The lives of these animals mattered when alive and they still matter now.

Not only are there animals suffering of poor conditions in the shelters (lack of physical activity, short euthanasia notices, poor kennel hygiene, etc) but the stray animal community is left to fend for themselves because they are “not actively dying” for animal control to come and do anything about their current situation.

Overpopulation, illegal dog fighting rings, be******ty, animal brutality, and forced breeding are just a few of the situations the stray animal community is faced with on a daily basis because these same officials won’t lift a finger.

Rescues, community members, volunteers, literally anyone else steps up BUT the people whose job it is to care about the situation and enforce the law for the welfare of these animals.

The goal of Thousand Lives is to honor the lives lost and to demand:
- that government officials be held accountable for the deplorable conditions animals are currently in
- that current laws/fines/bills are ENFORCED (i.e Bowie’s Law, spay and neuter laws etc) & AMENDED (i.e Skid Row Pits situation, an animal shouldn’t have to be dying to receive help)
- to have a sit down with animal advocates and rescues at the local level who’d like to provide input to implement & integrate new changes in our shelter system for the betterment of every animal life involved

💭 In addition, we are also looking for guest speakers for the day of as well as any resources or donations.
All donations will be going back to shelter animals 💭

Unity is Strength.
And we have plenty of strength left for the voiceless 🐾
