Educational post read if you want to know more about the max factor mutation.
This is one of the max factor kits.
Max factor is a common mutation in dwarf breeds were the feet don’t develop correctly. It also sometimes causes the kit to be born with their eyes open which in most cases causes blindness.
When breeding if you get a max factor in a litter it is good practice to not pair the same doe and buck again. If you have a buck that has sired many litters with different does and you continue to get max factors it is best to retire that buck from breeding. Same with a doe that continues to produce max factors with different bucks.
This bunny will need culled, due to its quality of life will not be good. The deformed feet can be painful for the bunny. Also it will most likely have problems with its bowel movements. This one also has a crusty eye which will continue to be a problem.

The one baby we have right now is doing good, growing great. It’s eyes should be opening in the next few days.

Huey had one baby last night. Unfortunately she did not make a nest and she had it on the wire, it was found dead this morning. She was a first time mom so hopefully next time she gets it figured out. She did clean it off good like she should so that is a plus. I also believe the baby was a max factor so it’s would have had to be put down anyway. We will try to breed her again.
On another note Blue’s one baby is doing well, growing good and staying warm.
