The recent robbery attempt has got me thinking about security and taking my girls to lunch today turned into an EDC Pocket Dump Video of my first line EDC gear. No matter what you choose to carry in your EDC you must get professional training in its use and train with it until you have mastered its use under extreme duress. Carrying cool gear is only cool if you have the skills to go with it.

DISCLAIMER: Always research and understand the laws regarding your EDC items for the area you are operating in to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws. In some states/countries possession of items such as lockpicks, handcuff keys, etc. is illegal, while in others such as Washington it comes down to your intent for possessing the items, and still, other states have no regulation on the items. If you live in a state where possession of certain items in your EDC comes down to intent, you must be able to clearly articulate that your possession is for personal security and anti-kidnapping purposes. For example, if I was asked why I possess the lockpicks and handcuff key, my answer will be "I am a Counterterrorism and Personal Security expert with over 25 years training and experience, during which time I have survived two kidnappings and multiple assassination attempts. I carry those items to enhance my personal security and for antikidnapping and escape and evasion purposes should I ever find myself illegally restrained again. They are strictly for personal security purposes and lawful use." No matter what, research before you carry, I have found myself in some countries where terrorism was abundant and my only legal EDC was a cell phone, my watch, and a flashlight with a serrated bezel.

Some K9 friends of mine, Tactical K9 Africa - Paarl in South Africa could really use our help. Between the organized crime and terrorism backed poaching of threatened and protected wildlife, as well as the brutal farm attacks and lack of emergency services that the South African farming community is being singled out and forced to endure, the farming community is being forced to rely on themselves to step up and protect and defend their communities, resources, and wildlife. And in a country where financial resources are already very scarce, it is incredibly difficult for these brave citizen groups to come up with the funds they need to operate even at a very basic level. It's a complicated and scary situation there in many different ways and one that the U.S. will likely find itself involved in at some point, but the farming communities of S.A. need our help now.

Tactical K9 Africa - Paarl has stepped up to help fight crime in the farming communities and provide anti-poaching services, and they have proven highly effective and successful in just their short time in operation. Their success has led to increased demand for their help which has forced them to obtain additional training and government certifications. This requires not only travel and certification fees, but they will also need crates for their dogs. The work they are doing is truly noble and making a difference by protecting people from violence and oppression as well as protecting their heritage, so please help them raise the money they need to keep advancing. Their funding goal works out to be about $3,240(U.S.), so please help them reach their goal and follow their facebook to keep up what they are doing because it is really cool.
