We are about 12 days overdue on this post, but Louisiana Mobile Veterinary Surgery would like to give a special shout out to a special someone! Stephanie Covington Wille has been with the company for three years, and because of her, we have been able to be more efficient and streamlined. She is a highly valuable asset to the team. We appreciate her ability to get along with others and be a team player, and be a leader when needing to step in on difficult cases. Because of her, I have personally gotten much more time with my family, and that is the best thing that I could wish for! Thank you for all that you do.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! May the blessings of the season be upon you all.

At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, Armistice Day celebrated the end of the war. In later years, this would be changed to Veteran’s Day. Regardless, we want to say thank you to all that have served, especially to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. We owe you a great debt of gratitude. We would not be the country that we are today without your influence on it. God bless.

Thank you to all of the veterinary technicians out there for doing what you do! Stephanie Covington Wille and Taylor Minervini, you both make my life so much easier! Y’all bring joy to the workday and I can’t imagine having to do this without either of you! Thanks for always showing up, ready to do your job, and being happy to do it!

Hello, all! We have an announcement! We are adding another team member! We will now have a full team, 5 days a week! Everyone, meet Taylor!

Taylor Minervini was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA. She and her now husband, Steven, moved to Baton Rouge in 2017. This is when Taylor’s veterinary career began. She worked in shelter medicine for 3 years at an open-intake animal shelter in East Baton Rouge. Taylor quickly worked her way up to lead veterinary assistant and medical foster coordinator. Working at the shelter is where she fell in love with critical care, emergency medicine, surgery, and fostering animals. She then spent 2 years working as a lead veterinary assistant at a general practice in Prairieville. Taylor is going back to her roots to work as an assistant at a spay, neuter, and rescue facility in Pontchatoula, and she’s also continuing her love of surgery by joining LMVS. When she’s not working, Taylor enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and volunteering her time at local animal shelters.

Pictured is Taylor and her three-legged mutt, Achilles🐾

We are happy to add her to the team and continue to look forward to helping your clients with their pet’s surgical needs!

“Banga” is a 5 week young puppy that had a diaphragmatic hernia. He was born with this condition. The owners noticed something wrong with him when he developed difficulties breathing. The hernia was very large for his body size. It allowed for the liver, gallbladder, half of the stomach and a large portion of the small intestines to enter his thoracic cavity (chest). We put all the contents back into his abdomen, and were able to close the defect by manipulating the diaphragm and surrounding tissue so that it could be closed without a mesh. He recovered well from his procedure. Thanks to Batt Veterinary Services for reaching out to us and taking such great care of him. Further updates from the clients revealed that he has returned to normal puppy activity (in confinement) and that he is eating and breathing very well! Here’s to puppy power!

📣 PUP-DATE: TIGGER 📣 Many of you may remember Tigger, the young pup who was hit by a car and would require specialty surgery due to a fracture in his left femur.

His surgery with Dr. Kopecky of Louisiana Mobile Veterinary Surgery, LLC was a success, he is healing beautifully and doing phenomenal at rehab with our friends at Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation.

Tigger is pictured with his very own physical therapist, Melissa O’Brien RVT, CCRP!! As you can see, he is a huge love bug and absolutely grateful to everyone who supported his surgery and recovery. Our work would not be possible without you. Thank you ❤️

Everyone, meet Bruiser! He was a bad boy and ate some socks. He’s done this many times before, but they all passed. This time, they did not! He had surgery to remove the socks, which was successful, but a few days later, his abdomen was swelling and he was diagnosed with septic peritonitis. The fluid in that tube was from his abdomen, which is very abnormal. Louisiana Mobile Veterinary Surgery was called to help, and we were there to assist! He had some of intestines resected, but that was patched up and then we placed an abdominal drain. His veterinarian, Dr. Hamer of Premier Veterinary Care and Resort, took on the challenge and aided with his surgery and recovery! He was treated with plasma transfusions and aggressive fluid therapy, including broad spectrum antibiotics, and he made a full recovery! He stayed in the hospital for several days with an NG (nasogastric) tube to get nutritional support. Look at him now! What a trooper! Thanks to all who supported his recovery! It was a team effort! Our Christmas miracle! Please feel free to reach out to LMVS about any of your surgical needs! We’re here to help!

This week is National Veterinary Technician Week! We want to thank Stephanie Wille for everything that she does for LMVS! She always has a positive and upbeat attitude, has great patient care, and truly is a team player! We’ve been in business for three years now, and for the first year and a half, Dr. Kopecky did everything on his own, from cleaning instruments to packing and sterilizing, etc. We don’t know how he did it without her when we look back on it! Stephanie has been a great addition to the team and we can’t enough say thanks for what she does!

Well everyone, it’s time for a little rest and relaxation! We’re taking our first extended vacation since starting the business over 2 1/2 years ago, and it is much needed! We will continue to be available via email, text, and call, but if it takes a few hours to get back to you, please understand. We appreciate all of the continued support from the community and the opportunity to help your clients/patients/pets.

Hello, all! Meet Dallas! An inspirational and wonderful pup that was diagnosed with bilateral (both) acl tears. He had tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedures performed on both knees on the same day! This is a tough recovery, but he is one day post-op and look at him go! Thanks to Elanco for their product Nocita, which is a pain blocking medication (lasts 3-4 days), which is why he is recovering and walking so well! Thanks to the crew at River Road Veterinary Hospital for the case and for the great post-op care! We strive to provide our patients with the best recommendations for treatment of their issues and to mitigate pain as best as possible at LMVS! Good job all around! Dallas, we wish you the best with recovery and know that you’re going to do great!

Today we were able to help Lucy, a Pygmy goat, that was dropped and suffered a fractured tibia. She is a member of Freedom Farm, and is a part of a petting zoo. With the aid of Dr. Patrick Mcsweeney, owner of Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital in Metairie, we were able to repair this broken bone. Thank you Stephanie Covington Wille, my wonderful technician, for your help with this case. Thank you to the crew of AMSH. Dr. Mcsweeney will be celebrating his 30th year of business on April 24th with this petting zoo on his premises! Please stop by his hospital and bring your kids on this day! There will be animals to pet and take pictures with, and snowballs! All proceeds will go to support Freedom Farm.
