The holidays are coming up and so are holiday decorations! Make sure to keep your pet safe with these simple tips:

-Don’t use real candles. Use LED candles to prevent your pet knocking over a lit flame.
-Anchor your tree.
-Use a fake tree rather than a real tree.
-Consider using a gate around the tree. This can prevent your dog or cat from getting to the tree, ornaments and presents.
-Keep holiday decorations out of reach.
-Keep your pet away from the food and drinks. Not all human food is safe for your pets.
-Keep an eye on your pet while they are outside if you use any extension cords for your outdoor lights that may be within your pets reach.

Ingredients:

2-3 sweet potatoes

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Wash and dry sweet potatoes and thinly slice lengthwise. Place directly on baking sheet and bake for 3 hours, flipping halfway through. The sweet potatoes should be chewy and dry. Let cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

After your pet has been outside, if their paws are wet, make sure to dry them. Use a wet washcloth to clean your pet’s paws and belly to clean off any snow, salt or possible chemicals. Be sure to put extra care into their paw pads and between the toes. Using coconut oil or another paw protectant on their paw pads before sending them outside can also add an extra layer of protection.

Your pup will love this dog friendly version of the classic fall treat, the pumpkin spice latte! This latte is the perfect treat for your pup to enjoy on a gorgeous fall day.

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cup full fat coconut milk
1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
Dash of ground cinnamon
Dash of ground ginger

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together except ¼ cup coconut milk. After fully blended, serve in a small plastic cup and top with coconut milk. Store any unoffered latte in the fridge for up to 3 days. Let your dog enjoy their pumpkin spice treat!

After spending the summer and now the fall sheltering at home with their pets, many of our customers are looking to “summer cut”, “shave” or otherwise ask our groomers to clip their pets very short. Acting in what they think is the best interest of their pet, many owners don’t realize that for many breeds, a haircut should often be the “road less traveled”.

If you remove the insulation from your home, your house will be too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. For a dog, their coat performs much the same function. If you remove it, you take away the system nature created to protect your pet from extreme weather.

Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour divided
1 tsp baking powder
1 small apple, cored and grated
1/2 cup pumpkin puree NOT pumpkin pie filling
1 large egg
Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Whisk together 2 cups of the flour and baking powder. Add in the grated apple, pumpkin, egg, and water and stir until all the dry ingredients are moistened. The batter will be fairly thick. If your mixture is still sticking, sprinkle your counter with the remaining 1/3-cup of white whole wheat flour, and knead it into your dough until no longer sticky.
3. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface and use a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes. Transfer to the prepared baking sheets.
4. Bake for about 30 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely on a wire rack before sharing with your pup or storing in an airtight container.
