Goodies!!! 🍅🥒🥬🌞 We picked a TON of green beans, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers (the long ones), two HUGE cucumbers, and a few of the Japanese cucumbers we might have forgotten we planted! The blueberries are so close to be ready. What a wonderful mid-July bounty. 💛

Welcome to Bonne Terre Urban Homestead’s Facebook home. We started this mini homestead farm for ourselves in the face of the crisis we are facing as a nation. Our connection to the earth is crucial at this time more than ever and while we were blessed to be abundantly prepared for this, we know many were not. We are hoping to grow our own food and share the knowledge we pick up along the way. We are also thankful to have much of this knowledge and to have many friends we can turn to with questions. We believe everyone is the right to fresh, nutritious food and everyone has the right to grow and raise their own. We are located in Rockford, IL in a well established neighborhood. Currently Rockford has restrictions that do NOT allow residents to raise chickens in their backyards, even with proper housing and care. We seek to move forward with attempting to change this again. Join us on our journey with our garden and hopefully eventually with bees and chickens/rabbits. All who are respectful are welcome here.
