🦉 A majestic Great Horned Owl is making an incredible recovery at HARP's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center after being hit by a car. With intensive care, its injured eye has healed enough to stop treatment, and now it’s preparing for release back into the wild! Not only that—this resilient owl was also treated for parasites and is now parasite-free! 🦅 Follow along as we continue its journey to recovery and release.
👀 Did you know these nocturnal hunters rely on excellent night vision, and while their eyes can’t move in their sockets, they can swivel their heads a full 180 degrees to spot prey in the dark? 🦉

Coopers Hawk Release!
Over the past few months, HARP's Wildlife Rehabilitation team has cared for several Cooper’s Hawks, including one male who arrived in early July. When he was admitted, our rehabbers found him severely emaciated and dehydrated, likely due to a concussion he had sustained.
After two weeks of dedicated treatment, he was strong enough to begin pre-release conditioning to ensure he was ready to survive on his own. He passed with flying colors and was successfully released back into the wild at the beginning of August. Welcome home, wild one! 🦅

Meet Brassy!
Meet Brassy, a gentle 6-year-old lady who’s still getting used to shelter life. She’s a bit shy but has a calm, independent nature that shines through. Brassy has lived with other cats and a small dog before, so she’d likely welcome new furry friends in her next home. While she hasn’t been around young children, she’s hoping to find a peaceful, quiet place to spend her golden years.
Brassy dreams of relaxing in sunbeams, watching birds, and sharing quiet moments with you as you sip your morning coffee. If you’re looking for a low-key and mature companion, Brassy is ready to retire in comfort with you! Come meet her at HARP's East Side Shelter.

7 Mallards @ HARP's Wildlife Center!
This group of Mallards is getting ready for their big debut back in their home environment! 🏞️ They came to us from different places and situations but have bonded as a tight-knit crew. Some needed extra TLC for an upper respiratory infection, but they’re all getting the care they need to learn how to be ducks! 🦆💚
Though they’re still growing their adult feathers, they’ll soon join a flock just in time for migration. Did you know Mallards can fly up to 55 miles per hour? Talk about a quick getaway!
Also, remember that bread isn’t good for ducks—it can lead to serious health issues. If you want to feed them, opt for corn, peas, or berries instead!
Your support helps us give them the best start in the wild! 🦆💛
