Following on from yesterday.

In April I announced I would be closing my business completely in Thatcham, This decision was not taken lightly and was a result of months and months of bad customers. I had experienced verbal and physical abuse, blackmail threats and constant no shows. Along with working 6 days a week and quite frankly I was at breaking point.

The shop will be undergoing a little revamp and I will remain open in Thatcham. From July I will be on a 3 and half day week with boundaries if you can’t respect me and my business I won’t be keeping you on as a customer. If you have cancelled or did not show up thinking I was closing you won't be welcomed back..

New opening times from July 2024
Wednesday - Friday 10am-5pm
Saturday 10am-2pm

(Closed Sunday-Tuesday )

Canceled appointments need 48 hours notice otherwise 50% of groom is required before rebook.

No shows will require 50% of groom more then two no shows will result in a lifetime band ( unless very good reason)

Please respect me I am a person and I try my very hardest to make sure everyone gets an appointment as soon as possible. I will not tolerate rude and threatening behaviour towards me.

If you are looking for a quieter Christmas grooming appointment please book between Monday 27th November- saturday 2nd December- Appointments still available.
I won’t be able to guarantee a 1-2-1 quiet appointments from Monday 4th December through out December unfortunately.

Just a reminder Christmas is just 6 weeks away, and coming around very quickly.

Appointments are being taken very fast, and I cannot recommend it enough to please book at least 2 weeks in advance.

🔔CUSTOMER NOTICE🔔

As some as you have seen this notice, which has been put up today. I cannot say this enough but please DO NOT enter or talk to your dog if your beautiful pooch is still on the table being groomed. It can make our job harder.

We also cannot not fathom this anymore but PLEASE COME TO YOUR APPOINTMENT ON TIME, as well as collect your dog at the exact time we say.

Christmas is around the corner and it’s our busiest time of year, if you do come early, we will advise you to come back at the time we said. Please note we are on a tight schedule, so sticking to timings are very important for you

And that wraps 2022 up, thank you for my Christmas gifts and supporting me and Gems Dog Grooming throughout 2022. I am closing until the new year to spend some well deserved time with my children and family. its been a blast and I cant wait to do it all over again 🤗

Recently I’ve been receiving calls and texts even Facebook messages right up to the early hours of the morning. So I have no option but to turn off all messages and work phone outside of working hours. Surprisingly I don’t have my diary on me in the middle of the night!. 🤣🤣

You can still text I will pick all messages up when phone get turned back on at 10am.

I prefer text messages and calls then Facebook messages as my bussiness page is slow and sometimes with no notifications of messages.
If you can’t get through on the phone please text and I will respond.

A part time fully flexible position has come available in our busy salon.

Gems dog grooming is a small friendly independents grooming salon in the heart of Thatcham town for the last 6 years. offering a good value happy experience. We pride our selves on giving the best grooming experience possible. looking for an experienced and talented person to work in our small but busy salon.

The successful applicant will need to be able to work unsupervised, performing all aspects of grooming to the highest breed standard or the client requirements. They must be able to clip, scissor and hand strip all dogs with confidence. Grooming qualifications are preferred but not necessary (eg NVQ level 2) but the most important requirement is that the candidate will have a appropriate experience as a professional groomer. We are looking for someone trustworthy and dedicated who can join our team.

As well as being an excellent groomer, the right person will also have good communication skills to discuss client instructions and bookings. Fluent English is essential as the role includes managing the diary and interacting with clients.

This is ideally a part time position, but full time would be considered.

❗️UPDATED GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES ❗️

New Government guidelines have been released 12th January 2021 from The Pet Industry Federation who work alongside DEFRA.

Groomers can now only groom dogs on an essential, welfare basis and normal routine grooming is to be delayed until after the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

❗️DEFRA have said welfare includes; Veterinary referrals or excessive matting causing the dog extreme discomfort.

✅If you believe your dog to be a welfare case please contact me for further advice.

I will therefore be closed until restrictions are lifted or new updates are released. Apart from any welfare cases deemed necessary.

Please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me for any grooming advice you require. I will message you if you have an upcoming appointment.

That’s it Gem’s Dog grooming is finished for 2020, this December has been the busiest so far I’ve been through 10 litres of shampoo , 132 Christmas bows and countless bags of fur! 😆
2020 has been extremely rough year for everyone such a rubbish year. But
everyone has been so lovely to me and very supportive. Thank you for supporting my small business to all the old and new customers Especially in these very uncertain tough time ❤️
I wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a safe and healthy new year.
