We have a new silkie hen! I’m going to name her Priscilla since her coloring matches Elvis.

Well the mystery of Curly Sue vs Elvis has been solved officially. I’ve been jokingly calling him Elvis Sue since we weren’t 100% sure if he was a rooster or hen. My mom heard him crow today. So he is officially Elvis. I just hope him and Mr Crowjangles get along as they grow older.

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to Hales Hen House!

We are coming to the end of a great adventure today. We went to The Urban Chicken NC, LLC flock swap and got a white frizzle Cochin rooster who has been named Bossman by my husband. We also picked up two silkies and an Easter egger from there. Then I saw some silkies chicks posted on River Birch Acre. Traveled there and got three beautiful silks girls. She has amazing chicks if you ever need some. Also the turkeys have graduated to the outdoors. It’s been a whirlwind of a day.

PS: I can’t go a whole day without giving the button quail babies some love! They are growing so fast.

We also got two more silkies! The two small chicks in this picture are them. Fingers crossed for girls! If they turn into roosters they will need a new roost. Name suggestions? One is a chocolate silkie and one is a “blue”.

Welcome to the flock! He is a very feisty white frizzle Cochin rooster. He is already asserting his dominance and letting the girls know he is the boss. Now he just needs a name. Suggestions?

Has to stop and see my babies after a long day at work. Currently at 10… they made me smile. 😃 12 more eggs in the incubator… we will see what we get up to tomorrow!!!

As of this afternoon we are up to seven doing well! There is another in the incubator still drying but I’m not going to “count” it until it’s out of the brooder and doing well.

Unfortunately one of the button quail babies didn’t make it through the night…. But I woke up to five more babies this morning! We are up to six total and we saw at least two more eggs moving and shaking! So who wants button quail 😂😂😂.

Cuteness overload! They are so tiny. I am having to use a bottle cap for their water bowl. So far there are two. I wasn’t expecting them to hatch until Wednesday so maybe we will get a few more over the next couple days.

Button Quail eggs are in the brooder! It’s my first attempt so not sure I did this right. We will see in 18-20 days. Anyone interested in possible future button quail?

The turkeys grow much faster than the chicks! We tried to guess how many toms vs hens we had today. Danny Ray says three toms and one hen. I said three hens and one tom! Time will tell.
