The course covers confidence building and all the basic skills: sit, down, stay, walking nicely on the lead, recall, taking things from the dog. It`s not all formal training though!
We talk about tips and tricks to make your (yours and your dogs`!) life the best possible experience and set your dog for success in real life situations.

👃🐕 Your Dog's Nose is AMAZING! 🐕👃
Did you know that your dog's sense of smell is up to 100,000 times stronger than yours? While humans have around 5 million scent receptors, dogs have a whopping 220 million! Their noses are so sensitive, they can detect a single drop of liquid in an Olympic-sized swimming pool. 🏊♂️
But what does that mean when they’re mantrailing?
When your dog is on a trail, their nose becomes a powerful tool, tracking a specific human scent across all kinds of terrain. First, they catch a scent from an article of clothing or personal item. Then, they follow the "scent trail" left behind by the person, using every twist and turn to zero in on the target. It’s like watching a real-life detective at work, and the best part? Your dog LOVES it!
Here's a video of a short trail we've done on one of our walks with Riko. Double blind one - I didn't know where our target person is hiding either!
It never cease to amaze me how incredible dog's sense of smell is, and it makes my heart sing every time I see him so happy to be working ❤️ It's such a rewarding activity for both dogs and their handlers 😍

Mantrailing with Cheeky Wee Rascals this week - video taken by the person my dog Riko was trailing, on the last couple of metres of a rather long trail.
Riko is a partially sighted dog, with only some sight left in one of his eyes. This video just shows how he isn't even trying to use his eyesight and does all the trailing with his nose.
