Maizeys story 😥
Maizey came to us right before Labor Day if I remember correctly. She was the bigger of the 2 kittens(Lola is her sister) She was very healthy, eating well, with no concerns other then an occasional sneeze.
Within the week of the kittens arrival....Boogie became very sick. Sore throat, sneezing, gagging, not eating and stayed in bed about 10 days. Took all 3 to the vet and Vet reported it was a resp virus, gave eye drops and an antibiotic shot to Boogie. Said it can last 21-30 days and watch for resp infection symptoms with her and with the kittens.
A week after Boogie stayed in bed .....Lola began staying in bed....this lasted 5 days or so but her eye issues, resp issues were not as bad as boogie. She lost some weight but about 5 days later she began to improve.
At this point, Maizey started staying in bed. She was there 10-14 days....lost some weight but appeared to improve resp wise.
Then a couple weeks later she developed diarrhea....which really took her weight down quickly. Stool sample was normal except high yeast. Treated with flagyl, appetite stimulant and high calorie paste with 5 cans of wet food per day and dry food in front of her at all times. She began to gain weight....then the diarrhea started again.
After the diarrhea restarted, I took all 3 to a second vet. The cats at this point were sick off and on all of September and October. Well past the 30 day mark.
This video is of the 3 cats at Dundee Heritage Animal Hospital. Notice how thin Maizey 😥😥😥😥.
Diagnosis was all 3 cats were at the end of the resp virus that they have been seeing lasting 4-6 weeks. All 3 given oral antibiotics and eye drops. With the goal that Maizey would gain 2oz that week. Instead she passed away 4 days later.
Story to be continued with another video.
HATE FIP!!!
