Dr. MacArthur is a 1993 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine and has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 7 years old. Her career has taken her on a wonderful journey, from working with moose in Alaska to a rural practice reminiscent of James Herriot's stories. Most of her professional life has been spent in progressive small animal practices. She started her career with VCA in Florida and transferred to Texas to be closer to her family.
Dr. MacArthur's medical interests include dermatology, internal medicine, pain management and holistic medicine, with some exotic pets thrown into the mix. What she loves most is really getting to know our patients and their families, guiding them through each stage of life with compassion and clarity.

Leptospirosis is a dangerous, and potentially deadly, bacterial disease that can be harmful to both humans and animals.

Leptospirosis damages the kidneys and liver of dogs, humans and other animals, but is only rarely seen in cats. It is spread through the urine of infected dogs, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, opossums, rodents and other common wildlife.

Vaccination is the best way to prevent leptospirosis. Your dog can become infected by drinking, swimming in or walking through contaminated water or soil, or by consuming wildlife such as chipmunks, rats and mice.
