Spay Neuter Initiative Program
Spay Neuter Initiative Program’s Mission:
To improve the quality of life and reduce euthanasia of unwanted animals through affordable spay neuter and wellness care to cats and dogs. The mission is achieved through working with local rescue groups, shelters, owners and the Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic to ensure that no owner is turned away or forced to relinquish their pet because they cannot afford to properly take care of them.
Achieving the Mission:
The Spay Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP) achieves the mission through education, subsidies, voucher programs and feral cat outreach. One of SNIP’s goals for 2021 is to educate school age children and adults on what is needed for proper care of their cats and dogs, what overpopulation looks like in the community and shelters, the outcomes of not spaying or neutering their pets and ways in which they can help improve the lives of cats and dogs. SNIP provides individuals, rescue groups and shelters with subsidies to reduce the cost of obtaining spay/neuter services and wellness services for their dogs and cats at the Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic. SNIP has set up voucher programs for those owners on financial assistance to reduce their costs of surgery drastically and works to acquire grants through other non-profits that allow surgeries to be done for no cost to owners. Feral cat care, management and sterilization are one key area that is addressed by SNIP through education and vouchers.
