Hello! My name is Emily, I’m 22 and I have a strong, endearing passion for dogs. For as long as I can remember.. animals have been my primary focus. When I was at school I put my knowledge and education for animals as my priority, gaining my B-TEC Distinction in Animal Care (and getting a D in maths!😂). From there- I went on to do 9 diplomas in all aspects regarding animals but dogs mainly.

With raw feeding it is paramount you get your dogs weighed regularly- especially when they’re 0-2 years old. This is so you know the exact amount of food your dog needs to thrive.

Puppies aged 0-6 months need to be eating 10% their current body weight. This is because they need the extra energy and nutrients to grow.

Puppies aged 6 months-1 year need 5% their current body weight. This insures body condition and joints are healthy and don’t get strained by over feeding.

Dogs one year+ need feeding 2.5% their current body weight. At this age the dog is filling out and bulking up. So it’s super important to keep their diets lean.

These percentages are ONLY guides. You have to factor in metabolism (amount of exercise) and energy levels. If your dog is active and healthy feed a bit more, if your dog is docile and lazy feed a bit less.

Over weight dogs 1 year+ need feeding 2% body weight and fed lean proteins as a diet. Slowly increasing exercise overtime will help with dieting also.

Underweight dogs 1 year+ need feeding 3% body weight and fed a verity of proteins, more mental stimulating activities such as- licki matts/bowls, kongs, snuffle matts and decreased exercise will help your dog gain weight quicker.

My girl, Barley, is loving her frozen tripe slab. This is great for mental stimulation and really helps enrich her during the hot days where she is unable to go for walks. 🐾 if your dog is fed raw I highly recommend this for yours as well!

A few tips to help keep your dog cool this summer-

• Damp tea towel over the back, or for them to lie on.
(Cooling mat can be purchased also!)
• Fresh water available for them in a shaded area (preferably inside).
• Decreased physical exercise and more mental stimulating activities (Liki mats/bowls, stuffed kongs, snuffle mats, etc!)
• Give double coated dogs a good groom every single day ensuring all their shedded winter coat is coming out and isn’t stuck causing unnecessary insulation.

WHY FEED RAW?

Canines are natural carnivores. It has been that way since the start of time. Before and AFTER domestication, before all these brands started producing ‘dry food’ which gives next to no rich, nutritional value that raw food provides.

Raw feeding used to be huge but since dry food/tinned food came out it has become a chore to remember to get out the frozen meat the night before so your pet has a thawed out breakfast! The convenience to yourselves as dog owners that dry/tinned food provides doesn’t meet your canines health and nutritional needs!

If you put into consideration all the health benefits a raw diet has for your dog you would switch them to it just like that!

From a healthier, shinier coat, pearly white teeth, to no longer having foul breath or bad dentistry plaque! Alongside that, the raw way of feeding has a slow energy release throughout the day so your dog will feel uplifted and complete, also the high protein content helps keeps your dogs muscles strong.

Your pet’s stools will also be firmer and reduced. This is a massive result for you and your garden!

A raw diet strengthens the acidity in your dog’s stomach so if they were to ever eat something they shouldn’t, there would be a small chance of them actually getting sick! Where as if you were to cook their food, the opposite happens, it weakens their stomach acid. Leaving them vulnerable to be affected by whatever they ingest that isn’t good for them.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and us loved up couples are duty bound to buy our other halves a sweet treat- that being the dreaded chocolate.

Chocolate is one of the most toxic substances a dog can consume. Theobromine is the primary ingredient in chocolate, causing affects to the heart and nervous system. Vomiting, diarrhoea, hyperactivity, rapid heart/breathing rate, muscle tremors, coma, seizures (and even death if not given treatment) are the main signs of theobromine poisoning!

Humans have a faster metabolism than dogs to be able to digest the theobromine quicker, where as dogs cannot metabolise and excrete this as efficiently as humans. The dogs body can take up to 36 hours to flush this chemical away and in this time it is constantly being reabsorbed, each time having a more severe detrimental effect on your dogs internal health. To put it simply.. the chemical is not only poisoning your dog once or twice, it’s poisoning him many times.

So please be mindful not to leave your delectable, romantic treats lying around this Valentine’s Day! ❤️‍🩹

The beauty of Beef 🥩

Beef is a BUILD protein which is a specific protein endured to grow and help build cells, antibodies, hormones, tissues and organs. It maintains muscle mass, the reproductive and immune system. Repair proteins help your dogs ‘repair tissue damage’ heal better.

The raw meat contains LOW sodium which deescalates the risk of congestive heart failure (CHF) and also maintains blood pressure!

The healthy fats in beef will make your dog feel full, whilst containing vitamins and minerals to keep your dogs coat and skin healthy.
