Kobi has passed on across the rainbow bridge. Our hearts are broken and everything feels empty...words cannot express any part of this entire experience. We still don’t believe it.
There is so much happiness and joy in his memory and in the lasting impact he left on our world. He was our first boy, and will always be the best boy. It was a difficult journey these past weeks, but he had so many good days and a full life overall - it was just too short and we weren’t ready to live without him.
Rest easy, little one and enjoy whatever doggie paradise you’ve found yourself in. You are most likely in a sunny field, sprawling next to a lake on a hundred blankies, while angels scratch your head and rub your belly, giving you as many scrambled eggs and pancakes as you want. You are filled with boundless energy and there’s not a bad cell in your body. You will never again have to be prodded with needles or filled with drugs to ease your suffering. Are you at peace?
We’re sorry we can’t be there right now. We will always love and cherish you. You will always be with us, and we will see you again. ❤️ we love you so much Kobi.

To all of Kobi’s fans and friends: We wish there was an easy way to say this, but Kobi was diagnosed with the “big C” earlier this summer. He had been losing weight gradually since winter and he recently began having a bunch of digestive issues that landed him in the vet’s office several times. He was eventually taken to a veterinary hospital for exploratory surgery. (He had his spleen removed as a precautionary step.) Even though nothing appeared physically wrong, it wasn’t until they did a biopsy they found he had gastrointestinal lymphoma.

GOOD NEWS! Kobi is undergoing a 21-week chemotherapy protocol. He has weekly check-ups at the vet hospital where they monitor his vitals, check his blood, and give him his chemo treatment. Kobi does not like hospitals but enjoys the copious amounts of treats the nurses give him to stop barking. At home, he takes medication for indigestion, nausea, etc. and eats prescription dog food made for dogs with intestinal/digestive issues.

With all things considered, he is doing great! He’s put on weight and has been such a trooper through all the checkups and surgeries. He is still the same Kobi who LOVES to eat, bark, walk, and slobber all over you. That said, there are both good and bad days. Chemo for dogs is different and less potent, but it still causes nausea, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Kobi always pulls through, and the next day he is back to eating everything and anything.

Like the little prince he is, Kobi has all of us to wait on him paw and foot. He has no qualms about taking advantage of Mom’s kindness and getting as many cornflakes and scrambled eggs (his new favorite foods) as he can. Thanks to family and friends, he has a wonderful collection of floor pillows and toys to keep him comfy even on the worst days. He is so loved, and we are grateful for the support and kindness of those around us. ❤️
