16.2 5 year old gelding.
Ian is good to hack alone and in company.
He’s good in traffic.
He’s good to clip, catch, load, shoe, etc.
Ian has been Showjumping, he’s been to riding club, XC training, on funrides, arena eventing and Hunter trials.
He’s snaffle mouthed, does not pull or tank off with you.
He has no vices or quirks.
No scars or sarcoids.
He’s the yard favourite, a gentleman to have around and ride.
Everyone that meets him or rides him falls in love with him.
We absolutely adore him and the only reason he is looking for a new home is that he simply isn’t whizzy or fast enough to keep up with our other team chasers, he deserves to be spoilt rotten by someone!
He is a TB so please don’t bother contacting me if you believe they’re all nutters or broken 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
He only raced 5 times, completing just 2 of those (speed isn’t his forte).

Retired from his racing career sound. Since then has done fun rides, riding club, and most recently taken to the hunting field, where he has been keen and willing to learn his job.
He is bombproof in any traffic, rides and leads and can be lead off of.
Good to box, shoe, catch & clip. Incredibly loving horse who will stand for fuss all day long.
Drummer would suit a fun and active home with routine, as this is where he thrives best.
No nervous or novice riders as he is a big powerful chap; he will take the mick if you aren’t the boss of him.
Experience with TB’s preferred.

Backed last year then turned away to mature.
Came back into work this summer and since has been showing, on a couple of funrides, out to arena hire and autumn hunting.
She hacks alone and in company.
Lives in or out with mares or geldings.
Good in traffic and has lived on a farm so used to farm life.
Snaffle mouthed, not strong or silly in anyway.
Has a fantastic ‘can do’ attitude.
Can leave for a week and jump on.
Is classy enough in looks, breeding, temperament to go far in any discipline.
Good to load, catch, shoe, clip etc.

She’s green but has a lovely temperament for anyone to make their own.

16.1 14 year old coloured gelding.
Puzzle is good to handle on the ground.
He’s good to catch, shoe, clip, load.
He lives in out and is happy with mares or geldings- equally can be left on his own both in and out.
He hacks alone and in company, is not nappy.
Good in traffic.
Puzzle has hunted, to hunt he likes to be in on the action.
He’s evented, showjumped, done Hunter trials, lots of funrides, riding club, happy hacking.
He’s a careful and bold jumper, gives you lots of confidence without tanking you into a fence.
A typical ‘Turbo Cob’.
Puzzle has no vices.
He doesn’t buck or rear.
Puzzle is forward going and responsive, can be strong and would most suit an experienced rider wanting to have lots of fun. There is no malice in him at all.
For this reason he is not suitable for anyone nervous or novice.
He sound, clean limbs and open to vet.

🏵️ Sunday show day 🏵️
A nice day yesterday with the latest arrival taking 2nd in best mare and 3rd in the youngstock class. Fantastic comments from the judge and she definitely has a bright future ahead.
She’s a 4 year old ID mare, fantastic breeding, confirmation and movement! Standing at 16.1.
Thank you for showing her for me.
Joey and I also attended for some experience (for both of us) and had great fun making a fool out of ourselves in the working hunter (pilots fault) 🤣 but as always he was well behaved and jumped a genuine round considering how badly I rode him 🤦🏼‍♀️⭐️

🐎 NEW EX-RACEHORSE CLASS WORTH £50,000 FOR CORNBURY HOUSE HORSE TRIALS 2025 🐎

Jayne McGivern and Cornbury House Horse Trials today announce an exciting new class for ex-racehorses that will be run at Cornbury in 2025, worth a phenomenal £50,000.

The introduction of this new class is the initiative of Jayne McGivern of Dash Grange Stud and owner of top event horses, with the support of David Howden, founder and president of the Cornbury House Horse Trials.

The initiative has been in McGivern’s thoughts for a long time, wanting to make training ex-racehorses financially viable for riders. Her aim is to also raise the profile of the adaptable nature of thoroughbreds, especially in terms of their suitability for eventing.

McGivern is generously donating £50,000 in prize money, making it one of the largest prize funds within the eventing calendar, and the class will be run alongside the other classes at Cornbury in 2025.

The class will showcase thoroughbreds and their abilities, aiming to encourage riders to take on and retrain ex-racehorses and incentivise riders to work towards the 2025 class. It will also provide an additional opportunity for ex-racehorses, building on the existing resource and guidance provided by Retraining of Racehorses (RoR).

Jayne McGivern said: “I am thrilled to be able to launch a new ex-racehorse class that will run in 2025, and thank David Howden for his support in allowing my idea to come to fruition. Racing and eventing are both my passions and through this class we will be able to showcase the talent that thoroughbreds have in their second careers.”

The class will begin at CCI2*/Novice level, with further details around the class to be announced in due course.

“Manners”

You can tell much about the level of someone’s basic horsemanship by the way their horses lead.

A horse should stay next to you, not pull you or be dragged by you. A horse should respect your space, and not crowd against you, maybe step on your feet.

This is known as “having manners.” A horse that won’t lead is like a dog that jumps up onto furniture, it hasn’t been taught right from wrong.

I recently read something by a well respected western clinician. He said, “People want their horses to love them so much that they think they are being mean if they create boundaries.”

Horses weigh half a ton. They can easily hurt a puny human if they lack manners and boundaries, Heck, they can easily hurt us if they DO have manners.

People who treat horses as though they were some sort of fuzzy pets can create animals that can do a lot of damage. Creating boundaries doesn’t mean whipping and beating, but it does require that when you say “no” you mean “no.”

Standing at the mounting block, standing for the farrier, picking up its hooves, letting itself get bridled, so many basics that make the difference between a mannerly horse and one that shoves you around.

As the clinician said, “letting a horse walk all over you won’t make him love you more.”

🍊 16.3 11 year old Chestnut gelding 🍊
Any one looking for a lovely allrounder? 👀 Quasi is with me in search of a new 🏡.
He has been beautifully schooled on the flat and over fences.
He’s been out on funrides and farm rides.
He’s been to SJ competitions, Hunter trials and has done a handful of one day events, hunted and done RC.
Good with hounds out hunting and stands well.
He hacks alone or in company, is not nappy and is good in traffic.
He’s lived on a farm so used to farm traffic.
He’s good to catch, lives in or out and with mares or geldings.
Good to shoe, clip, load etc.
Rides and leads.
Snaffle mouthed.
He’s a real character and a joy to have around, unfortunately lack of time forces sale.
He has been in the same home for the last 5 years.
He has no vices or quirks, a lovely horse that would happily be a low key riding club/funride horse or step it up and further his competition path.

A busy weekend!
On Saturday Banana Joe went to his first show 🥈.
He coped well with the show atmosphere, a little green at times but lots to like and very positive comments from the judge, really looking forward to seeing what’s to come from him ⭐️.
On Sunday Joey and Snickers went funriding, Snickers really is a lovely laid back chap, photos don’t him justice.

This week we said farewell to Mr Bingley, the absolute stalwart of our team. It was bitter sweet farewell but Ezmee, I’m sure will give him the best of homes and he’ll give her the absolute joy he’s given us for the last 5 years. We’ll forever feel sad about finding you a new home but will always be thankful for everything you gave us.
If we ever find another like you we’ll be blessed!

After being uncertain on whether to keep or sell we’ve decided it’s the right thing to do to find Luca a new home.
16.1 9 year old TB gelding.
He’s easy to do in every way at home - load, clip, catch, box, shoe etc.
He has clean legs, no old injuries or quirks.
Good to hack alone or with others.
Rides and leads, lives in or out.
Good in traffic.
We bought him last year to keep but he needs more time going out and about than I can give to him with having so many others in at the moment.
You can leave him for weeks and jump straight on him no bother.
He’s snaffle mouthed, but can be keen.
He does not buck/rear/bolt etc, he just likes to keep up or be in front.
His flatwork is good and I do think he would show nicely (ROR eligible).
He’s a good jumper, just needs work in this area to teach him to slow down and not race so much.
Since we’ve had him he’s team chased(novice and intermediate placings) , he’s been out unaffiliated SJ’ing, XC schooling and on lots of funrides and seen hounds on a couple of occasions last autumn.

Due to a time waster i have a lovely 3 year old TB available.
Went off to be broken in earlier this year, never raced or trained.
He has hacked alone and in company, does some lovely flatwork and small amount of jumping.
He’s an absolute sweetheart that thinks he’s a Labrador, he’d happily live in your home.
Since being home from being broken in I’ve jumped on him 1/2 times a week and he’s been golden.
He’s growing like mad currently but I think he will finish off 16’3ish.
Will be a really smart young horse for someone, needs to fill into his frame so a bit of un ‘ugly duckling’ at the moment.
Loves fuss, good to handle etc.
Rubbish photos but I will get some better ones over the weekend.
He’s 3 and no I don’t have videos of him jumping a 1.10 course, XC schooling and hacking in every corner of the UK (I’ve honestly been asked some random requests🤦🏼‍♀️) please just come and see him for yourself.

Such a busy few weeks!
Both darling Memphis and the gorgeous splash found new owners 🥰
We had great fun team chasing at the Warwickshire bringing home a fourth! Last weekend the team were a minute too fast leaving them out of placing but looking forward to the next few weekends!
We’ve had a few young horses go to their new trainers (looking forward to seeing them on the track)!
And a few more coming to continue their education and I have also been lucky enough to squeeze in a few mornings ATH’ing!
I have a few horses coming in that will be looking for new homes so if you’re on the search please send me a message!
