Hurricane Laura UPDATE -
All ARC animals have been transferred to the Houston Humane Society. This is a temporary housing situation. They will return on Friday, assuming the storm is gone. We do have a few animals here, that could not go (various reasons). We will have staff here on-site 24/7 during the storm. We have a generator and are on very high ground. The ARC, the animals and the staff are in a safe place. We appreciate all of the help and support!

Austin Pets Alive!
"Austin Pets Alive! said it has already begun receiving requests for help from animal shelters in areas likely to be affected and some who are already being evacuated. The American Pets Alive! team saved 15 dogs by connecting a shelter in Vidor, Texas, to a shelter far out of hurricane path in Brownwood, Texas. At least 65 cats and dogs are now making their way to APA! from various coastal shelters who need additional help due to evacuations and preparedness for Hurricane Laura.

APA! will be sharing updates on this page as the organization works to coordinate rescue and relief efforts.

APA! needs community help with hurricane support efforts through fostering and donating, which are both essential parts of hurricane relief efforts" -

Homeward Trails Animal Rescue is looking for fosters, check out info below and get in touch with them if you fit the criteria and are able to help out -RD

UPDATE: URGENTLY CAT FOSTERS NEEDED !
You’ve likely heard about the hurricane that is headed toward Texas/Louisiana. We’re working with the Petco Foundation to take some of the dogs and cats being evacuated from the Houston area. We don’t have a lot of details yet, but we are going to need to move some of the dogs out of our Adoption Center to make room for the evacuees. We are looking for fosters to help - we’ll need fosters with no other pets; fosters with fenced yards for dogs; fosters with no children; and fosters with experience with shy dogs/ scared cats. If you’re a current foster and able to help, please send an email to [email protected] for dogs and [email protected] for cats. If you’re interested in becoming a foster, please fill out an application: https://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/pet-foster-forms/

We’ll update the situation as we receive details. Thank you! 🐾❤️
