What a WONDERFUL jumper show at Flying Change Stables with Rocky and Tornado!!

Might have been a bit chilly, but it was still a blast! A lot of amazing riders out there today!❤️

Time for the reveal!!! 🤩

Miss Tornado was under the tarp! This pony is quite incredible at liberty - she's so eager, willing, smart, and definitely connected when we play!❤️

Tornado has a huge hoof to play when it comes to our liberty journey. She's helped teach me so, so much, and with the aid of Cory Furlong from MT, starting when I was 12, we have blossomed! Now we can also do teamed liberty with Rocky!

Tornado was the first pony/horse I ever trick trained and played at liberty with. She knows how to sit, laydown, rear, bow, liberty circles, play dead(as seen), and more! She is coming up to being 30 years old this year or in 2025! Man, the time really does go by fast.🐴

Did someone mention Liberty Work?👀

We love that, now there are so many people eager to be learning about Liberty and wanting to grow their connection and communication with their horses!🥰 With that, we do have quite a few people reach out from time to time asking things like; how to get started, is my horse the right fit, what cues do you use, how do you do it?

Well, the answer lies in how well you can effectively and silently communicate with your partner through body language.

At true Liberty you don't have reins, you don't have the use of your legs on their side, your hand on their neck, etc. to help guide and communicate with them. You have your body, your voice, and if desired the use of a whip, ONLY to be used as an extension of your arm.

Through your learned communication with your partner(and each horse WILL communicate differently) you two work together, including over multiple days/months, to build a deeper level of understanding, trust, and communication - through that comes the true enjoyment and feelings of working at Liberty.

While these two can sometimes make it look easy, don't doubt that it's taken lots of sweat, hours, months, and even YEARS to be at this point today!❤️

She comes to you or will meet part way depending on location and does an incredible job for the horses!!! All of ours know when she's here for massages and they just melt with her!❤️

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝐵𝑟𝑖𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠

For those of you who follow us closely or know us personally, you know that we take a slightly different approach when it comes to working with animals, any animal. The very first sentence on our website is “𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑝.”

Most of you know who Rocky is, but for those of you who don’t; Rocky is my 5yr, grade gelding that we have fully trained ourselves. Rocky is quite the young horse to be able to ride just about any discipline and to be able to do them bridleless. How?

𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒆𝒕. 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕. 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕. 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

As we have been doing a lot more bridleless work this year, it has become clear to us that there are a lot of misconceptions about bridleless riding. Some say that it's extremely dangerous as you lack “control”, some say that it’s very easy to do, that any neck reining horse could do it, and while having a very quiet and well broke horse definitely helps, that is only a portion of the situation.

The riders who are concerned about the “𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑙”, are usually the riders who don’t understand the very basics of being a horseman and communicating with your partner. Those are the riders who bit up their horses and use tools incorrectly to “𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑣𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑚𝑠” vs listening to their partner and trying to become better together.

Riding bridleless is a visual representation of silent communication, where you and your partner don’t just understand cues, but the communication is an equal two-way street. Bridleless riding shows another level of faith in BOTH you and your horse.

As the rider, you must be willing to put your life in your partner’s hooves just as they put their life in your hands. When you come across a scary situation or an unknown situation, and you will, without that trust, without that faith in each other to protect, listen, and keep you both safe, you have nothing and that’s when it becomes dangerous.

Bridleless riding is the beauty of trust, respect, and a true partnership with a partner that speaks an entirely different language! Let's work together to learn, to understand, and strive to have a deeper connection with our partner(s) because once you do, the sky really is the limit!

What an AMAZING Sunday afternoon with the Lamoine Trails Saddle Club! Yes it was hot but it was a very, very good day!

Rachel Lemke showed Playing It Red Hot(Pepper) for us at the show and they did amazing!!! Rachel had Pepper in just about every class and they excelled so well!

Rocky was perfect for the National Anthem, and placed really well in all his classes! We truly couldn't have been happier!❤️
