This feral mom cat and her 5 kittens need your help! Kittens are still being trapped one by one (2 remaining) and will be going to the local city shelter for adoption. Feral Mom needs her spay surgery costing $150 at a local clinic and then will be released back to her neighborhood.

I helped Nick with his neuter back in January. His owner messaged me last night that he’s been vomiting, refusing to eat, and acting lethargic for the last 2 days. This could be quite urgent such as a foreign object obstruction so I told her to bring him to me in the morning and I’d take him for an urgent exam with my established veterinarian. I hope they can figure out what’s wrong quickly and easily. Will likely need X-rays so things could get a little bit expensive! Owner is low income and we would love any help you can give!

Have a kitty who is challenging to trap and/or will not enter your trap?!!!

TRAP TRAINING may be the answer to this problem!

1. Securely zip tie the trap door open so the trap can not close.

2. Start with the food right in front of the trap. This is a good time to implement a feeding schedule if you haven’t already done so.

3. Move the food bowl back a little each day until it’s in the back of the trap.

4. When the cat is freely going in and out of the trap for food, cut the ties and set the trap as normal for a scheduled spay/neuter date. ‼️Don't trap a cat unless you have an appointment or have a walk-in clinic option.

⚠️ The only available food should be near or in the trap.

Feline Fact Friday ... The number of cats adds up exponentially when they aren't spayed/neutered!!!
------------
Spaying and neutering saves lives and ends suffering by preventing unwanted litters, reducing shelter overpopulation, and lowering euthanasia rates.

⚠️ Cats reach sexual maturity at four to five months and can have two to three litters per year with at least three kittens, which, in turn, will soon produce their own offspring. The number of offspring from just one cat can increase to thousands after only a few years, many of which may end up as strays. Apart from the suffering that comes with being a stray, any unwanted offspring can also be a burden for shelters

Help make a difference by supporting spay & neuter and Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) programs in your area and be part of the solution! 🐾

How do you save hundreds (if not thousands) of lives? JUST SPAY ONE.

Update: the first two pregnant ladies recovered nicely from their spays and were returned to their colony. Two more pregnant kitties trapped that night same location that are going in for surgery ASAP!

A little cat trapping this evening resulted in two pregnant ladies. Plus one more mom left at this house (for now) who already gave birth to a singleton that only lived one day. When will the suffering of innocent lives end? We must prevent all births. Help me cover their surgeries! It’ll be around $500 for the 3 ladies at a local clinic!

For the past six weeks I’ve been fostering a semi feral mom and her 5 babies since they were 2 days old. Now they are ready to start the next phase. The Humane Society Silicon Valley in Milpitas CA has accepted the kittens into their adoption program. I’ll be fostering for another month until they reach surgery weight. I also received a free TNR spay surgery date for their Mom who is eager to return to her outdoor colony at a house in San Jose. The kittens are eating Purina ProPlan kitten wet food and could use your help to buy more! Thanks for any donations.

Latest update: 12 days into treatment. Big Sir is gaining weight and thriving. He’s got his spirit back and is happy to be alive.

Update: After 1 day of meds, Big Sir was showing small signs of being more alert and interested in eating. After 3 days of the GS FIP medication , he’s seeming almost back to his normal self! Being more snuggly and wanting to eat multiple small meals. He even pooped again after over a week of not. Praying his eyesite returns.

Resident rescue and gentle giant Big Sir has been diagnosed with ocular and wet FIP. Over the last few months he’s been slowly losing weight but a few weeks ago I started to noticed more changes including blood splotches in his eyes and general lethargy. Over the last week he’s gone completely blind. After lots of blood work, eye testing, X-rays and an ultrasound, things seemed sort of inconclusive to my main veterinarian but they thought possible FIP or other lymphoma/GI cancer. I then checked with a private rescue veterinarian friend and she immediately agreed based on the eyes, his bloodwork, and his high temperature and how he looked and felt that he likely has ocular and wet FIP. My regular veterinarian isn’t as informed on this difficult diagnosis nor how to get the medication, but thankfully the rescue veterinarian already has the medication on hand and can order it for me immediately. Send good thoughts and healing vibes to Big Sir as we embark on 84 days of medication. His appetite and eyesight should return quickly if this is the right diagnosis as the medication works wonders! I am feeling hopeful again.
