Mishka, Daisy and I went for a try out of Lure Coursing at Westbury today.

Mishka was more into it than Daisy but they both had a great time and had a chilled afternoon afterwards!

They were both slightly in “Tracking” mode with noses to the ground, probably because I have done a fair bit of Tracking practice at Westbury? Will see how they go!

Hello everyone!

A few people have been asking me about my plans following Mishkas sad failure to conceive.

I have a plan (of course!).

Firstly I will try once more with Mishka. Will try a repeat of her first mating which was Kenoz Zoldzafir Zeeba who is a Daisy/R***r son…. She had ten puppies by him the first time around….

Then a plan which was suggested to me by my good friend (and fellow breeder) Elise Hinde. She as a breeder understands the situation that I’m in, possibly being unable to continue to breed from my direct lines. She has very generously offered me the option to have a litter from her girl Kenoz Rox Gold Dust Woman aka Meli.

Meli is a Skyler/Fuge girl, I have several options on who to mate her with and I will consider them all carefully!

So, that’s the plan. I’d guess the timing will be around 6 months from now, so there’s no hurry for anyone to decide anything.

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗜𝗧...

😳 "You shouldn't start a puppy on a fresh food diet until they're a year old"....what do you think they'd be eating if you weren't there to buy a bag of kibble.

😳 "Fresh food feeding is a fad"... that's a 30,000 year old trend I guess....

😳 "Bacteria from fresh food feeding isn't safe for dogs" - to start with dogs are not humans in fur coats, their digestive systems are different to humans which you would expect right because they're a different species.

Mother Nature made a dogs digestive system to eat its natural diet so it gave them a shorter digestive system, different pH and different bacteria to process that diet.

Kibble fed dogs sadly have a poor gut microbiome and they generally can't handle dietary change so maybe consider for a moment what diet is actually appropriate for a dog.

Fresh food feeding can be in raw or cooked formats. Many kibble fed dogs with damaged gut microbiomes do better on a cooked diet to start with.

😳 "It's not balanced" - a balanced fresh food diet utalises nutrients in their whole form, not synthetic vitamin and mineral mixes therefore the body actually knows what to do with those nutrients.

😳 "Dogs have evolved to eat kibble" - some breeds more than others depending on what agriculture was around where they came from have developed the ability to break down starch better than their ancestors but that's from necessity it's not because it's healthier for them to eat high starch diets aka kibble.

🤪 It's important to push back and ask questions, there are thousands upon thousands of Vets that support fresh food feeding dogs and there are plenty of studies that show the benefits....why we need studies to show that real food is healthier than highly processed is beyond me though.

Some sad news for those waiting on the news about Mishkas Momo litter.

There is sadly no litter. We could see some sacs but there was fluid in the uterus that obviously shouldn’t be there. Vet believes that it’s from absorbed puppies.

I will be getting her scanned again on 11th April but don’t have much hope.

I am absolutely blindsided by this as everything was spot on, the progesterone levels, the AI procedure itself and her behaviour since.

Even taking her into the vets today he commented that she “looked” very pregnant….

Yes she had come into season quite quickly after the previous one but nothing that had not happened before with her (or Daisy).

There is a plan but I’m not up to talking about it yet.

But I thought raw diets were not healthy for pets?

Glyphosate, better known as Round-Up, has contaminated over 80% of the world's water supply, is destroying the soil's natural microbiome, and is creating antibiotic resistance.

And studies from the Health Research Institute Laboratories have now shown that pets who are fed a raw diet had no detectable levels of glyphosate in their urine.

Whereas kibble fed dogs actually had 32 x the glyphosate levels of humans in their urine!

What?!

That alone should make you want to start feeding a better diet.

Glyphosate has been linked to all sorts of health issues ranging from lymphomas to brain tumors.

I'm not ready to risk my pet's health for the ease of convenience.

Are you?

It's not always the easiest to change, so I recommend starting small if this is new for you.

Start adding in leafy greens to the food at least 3 x a week.

Studies out of Purdue University in 2005 showed that doing this one thing actually reduced the risk of cancer 90% in dogs on a kibble diet.

This is who I get all my raw minces from and now prey model raw complete mince, needing only a bit of fruit and vegetables to finish it off! Tho if you don’t do they 100% of the time that’s still ok!

After a meeting up on neutral ground and then a trial run at the weekend I’m really delighted to confirm that Carys has happily moved to her new permanent home.

Felicity Reilly and Troy have had two dogs from me in the past and sadly lost their older dog R***r last week at the age of nearly 15. Their remaining dog Kessie was extremely distressed by the loss and pretty inconsolable.

Kessie and Carys know each other well so it seemed to be an ideal solution.

Carys will have a lovely life with two children to help look after and plenty of livestock to get to know. I will be able to see her regularly and she’ll be working as a shop dog in the family business Sprung in Launceston!
