❤️‍🩹Dixie could use your help!❤️‍🩹 Our recent rescue Dixie has 4 Sarcoids which are benign (nonmetastatic) skin cancer tumors believed to be caused by papillomavirus infection and associated gene component. They affect up to 11.5% of all horses and are the most common. Sarcoids usually appear as rough, raised, hairless patches or nodules on the skin that are not painful or itchy. The tumors are cosmetically unappealing, but the prognosis for affected horses is very good. We have opted to treat them I order for her to have a better chance of being adopted but the treatment is quite expensive. We have already had our veterinary team diagnose at Christian County Vets and now have to order the ointment which is $170 for 2oz. As she has a few we will likely need two jars so are hoping to fundraise a total of $535 for her care to give her the best chances possible!
