ADOPTION #12 : Twix! Twix went to her forever home during the middle of August. We didn’t get a photo until now because her new family is dedicated to making sure she adjusts well to their home and their resident cat. Twix is doing better everyday and will hopefully soon be best friends with the other cat who is also FIV+. Fun Fact: Twix traveled a total of 6 hours to be with her new family who absolutely loves her.

ADOPTABLE KITTEN SPOTLIGHT: Twix! Twix is a 9-10 week old kitten who is a ball of energy! Twix is FIV+ and is looking for a home with other FIV+ cats, or as a single kitten. We realize we will get a lot of comments about FIV+ and FIV- cats and how they can coexist. We understand they can and are a rescue that understands FeLV, FIV and FIP. However, our best recommendation to prevent other cats who are FIV- from contracting FIV is to place Twix in a single cat home or with other FIV+ cats. Twix is currently healing from her spay procedure and will be ready for adoption starting on August 9th. Twix Update: Twix came to us after a Good Samaritan found her and couldn’t keep her. We’ve just found out for certain with a PCR test that Twix is FIV + . FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is one of the most common infectious diseases in cats. FIV attacks the immune system leaving the cat vulnerable to infections. While we understand that many people have FIV+ and Negative cats living together, we are recommending that Twix go to a future home as a single kitten or with other FIV+ Cats. We know we will receive a lot of comments on that, but that is what is best recommended for Twix. However, if the introduction process can occur safely with no biting then it’s possible that Twix could go to a home with FIV- cats, but we would need the adopter to understand the risks and sign our infectious diseases clause in our contract. ADOPTION #11 : Gigi! Gigi, who is Feline Leukemia positive went to her forever home today. This adopter is already very patient with Gigi. Gigi’s adopter has other Feline Leukemia positive cats so Gigi can finally have a friend other than chasing our director’s rabbit. We are so happy for Gigi and wish her all the best. 🧡

Due to not enough sign ups, we have had to cancel our paint and sip event. We had a decent amount of people interested in supporting us, but already had summer plans and couldn’t make it. We will also be regrouping and offering more affordable events. Some people have asked how they can still support us even though they can’t make it. Turns out Twix is a lady! Usually I get it right but I was mislead this time. 😅🧡
New Intake: Meet Twix! Named after our directors favorite candy and for this sweet kitten’s personality. Twix seems to be about 5-6 weeks old and constantly wants to make biscuits and play with toys. A Good Samaritan shared with us how she found Twix.
“Luckily I happened to look outside at the right time. A neighbor had just gotten out of his car and I glanced out of the door because he had stopped only to see a little grey streak zip towards him. He was weaving between his legs and I could see that cute wee little tail shaking in happiness. I went outside because smol kitten and apparently he’d been seen around for a few days with no mom or other kittens around. No one else could really take him in and I couldn’t leave him out there being so small. Even if it meant my cats were super mad about it or that I knew I couldn’t keep him long term. But all he wanted was love and attention and to play. He knew he was safe from that moment on. Whoever adopts this sweet lady will be so lucky to have him 💕 “. Twix is NOT ready for adoption yet but we wanted to share how cute she is and hope someone will want to give her a forever home when she is ready.

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and we want to celebrate by having you come for a fun afternoon of painting! There will also be shirts you can buy and possibly a raffle. Our event is local to Louisville, KY.

ADOPTION UPDATE: Jett! We’ve checked in on Jett and this is what his owner had to say: “Jett has made himself at home over the past few weeks! He loves playing with shoestrings, zooming through the halls and sitting at the window ♥️. Me follows my around everywhere but jis favorite spot is the little corner at the bottom of my bed. I’ve become positively smitten with him and my home would not be the same without him.” We love to hear this for our FeLV+ boy!

It simply just makes her look like she has a little smile all the time. 2. Gigi is Feline Leukemia positive, so she will need to be the only cat in the house or with other FeLV+ cats. Gigi deserves a wonderful home and we think she would do well in a home with maybe kids who would love to play with her. ADOPTION UPDATE: Chloe! It’s been almost a month since Chloe went to her forever home. Her adopter had this to say about Chloe: “Chloe adjusted pretty fast which I didn’t expect. She loves to run around with the ‘zoomies’ at night and I noticed she liked playing fetch. She also loves looking out the window but hates car rides lol (we can only win in one thing, haha) Chloe LOVES getting ear scratches but she also likes to run when you want to pet her. She’s silly like that. She’s met my old cat and though they weren’t fond of each other, I think that they will be good friends or hopefully sisters in the coming months. Overall, I’m quite happy to have her as part of the crew, my family loves her and I think she loves it too.” We are SO happy for Chloe! 🧡

ADOPTION #10 : Chloe! Remember Chloe who was originally brought to us after being rescued from being thrown from a moving vehicle in freezing temps? Well she went to her forever home today! Chloe was a little nervous for the picture but already started to show signs of trust with her new adopter. She head bonked her new owners hand and had a question mark curl at the end of her tail which is a sign of confidence in cats. We were of course sad to see Chloe go, but we know this is an amazing home for her and she is well loved already. 🧡

Adoptable Cat Spotlights: Chloe and Gigi!
We have two wonderful cats who are looking for their forever home!
Chloe is a Domestic Longhair Calico who is very sweet and is still considered a kitten since she is only 9 months old. She is very loving and is looking for just the right family. Chloe just got spayed and will be ready for a new home in 2 weeks after she heals from her surgery. We still wanted to post about her to get her name out there.
Gigi is a very energetic kitten who is FeLV+. Gigi must be the queen of the castle or with other FeLV+ cats. She is about 8 months old and loves to play with toys and sit with people, but she is so on the move that it is short lived. Gigi is UTD on shots, fixed and is READY for her forever home now!

New Intake: Gigi!
Gigi came to us from a wonderful vet clinic who saved her life. 🧡
Gigi was brought in to the clinic when she was 6 weeks old needing to be dewormed and the woman who brought her in wanted to euthanize her rather than simply having the vet give her dewormer. The vet clinic convinced the woman to surrender Gigi to them where she has been well taken care of and loved ever since. Gigi came into the clinic when she 6 weeks old and is now 8 months.
Gigi is also unique in that she has a cleft palate. The condition occurs in female cats more often than males. Gigi’s cleft palate is cosmetic and does not affect her ability to eat or drink.
Gigi is Feline Leukemia positive but we believe she still deserves a wonderful home and a chance to be a kitten.
Gigi is UTD on her shots, spayed and microchipped! She is looking for her forever home. Since Gigi is FeLV+ we do recommend her to be the queen of the castle or with other FeLV+ cats.

ADOPTION #9: Jett! We are over the moon about Jett (who is FeLV+) being adopted! His new cat dad is very kind and is excited to share his home with his first cat. Jett is still adjusting but we know he is well loved already. Usually we have the adopter hold their new cat but Jett was a little more comfortable with myself for the photo.
UPDATE: Chloe! Remember Chloe who was thrown out of a car during frigid temperatures?
Well originally she tested positive for FeLV but was retested and is actually Negative! Our vet had this to say about false positives: “False positives occur on FeLV tests about 5-10% of the time. Those tests are very sensitive so a negative on the tests I trust. There are additional send out testing that can be performed but it may not be necessary.“
Next we need your help getting Chloe spayed! Anything amount donated helps. Did you know that 95% of cats who come to us are not fixed?

ADOPTION UPDATE: Mochi: It’s been 2 weeks since Mochi was adopted and her family had this to say about her: “Since adopting mochi I feel like our dull days have been brightened with this derpy, energetic, super loving fur baby. Her & my son love to take bath together & run circles around the house with her toys. She’s really brought brighter days when I’m home alone. & we love to lounge on the couch & watch anime together. She’s very special. & we are extremely grateful to be her forever home🖤” We are so happy for our little water goblin.🤍
SAD NEWS: Our first FeLV+ cat to be adopted through us has passed away after becoming sick from the Feline Leukemia taking over his body. We knew that Toasty had Feline Leukemia and we still believed he deserved a good home.Toasty was about 5 when he got his diagnosis. His adopters had him almost a year and in that year he had a human sister, hunted mice and lived a great life with them and with us and his original caretakers. We would love to honor Toasty once our catnip garden is ready. 🧡
NEW (Fostered) INTAKE: Meet Jett! Jett is a 6 year old cat who has been wandering the streets when his caretakers found him. They began feeding him and had him taken to the vet and even got him fixed. While at the vet he tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia). They then sought out for a family with either no pets or other FeLV+ cats. His caretakers were so kind in fostering him while we help share about Jett and hopefully find him a home. Here is what his caretakers have to say about Jett: “Jett is super affectionate and loving. He loves scratches behind his ears and just being near people. He also really loves ham. He showed up at our back door and we fed him small pieces out of our hand. He is not super playful yet but is becoming more comfortable around us”. Let’s welcome Jett and share his story to help find him a home!
ADOPTION #8: Mochi! We are so happy to announce that Mochi has found her forever home! She will be queen of the castle who has a wonderful family of a mom and a little boy who will be a great playmate for her. They love the fact that Mochi loves water and already love her so much. We were of course sad to see her go but we know she will be happy with her new friend and a bathtub with water in it.

She’s no blue healer from “Bluey”, but Bandit is sure to steal your heart! Bandit was found on the side of the highway by a wonderful person who is now her Foster Parent. Her foster mom is willing to pay to have her spayed and microchipped for the right adopter. She can not keep Bandit long term as she has resident cats that are negative for FeLV. Her Foster Mom has this to say about Bandit: “Bandit, or as we like to call her “little girl” or “little void”, given her black fur and bright green eyes that stand out! Bandit is estimated to be 5 months old. She’s spunky and loves to play! Her favorite toy is the ball track toys, where she can bat the little ball around. She likes to bird watch and is super talkative. She also loves climb and is very curious. Even though she is super energetic, she’s the best cuddled. She loves her belly rubbed and will sleep right on your chest given the chest. “ Due to Bandit’s FeLV + status, We recommend that Bandit is adopted as the queen of her own castle, or with other FeLV + cats. FeLV statistically shortens a cat’s life but we believe they still deserve a loving home for their entire life no matter how long or short it is. NEW WEBSITE FEATURE: Cat Surrender Waitlist. I’m not sure everyone knows but Pumpkin’s Patch does not have a permanent facility solely dedicated to adoptable cats. Since we are a smaller and newer nonprofit, all of the rescue cats that I take in are housed in extra spaces of my home. It is important for the public to understand that I can only take in 2-3 cats at a time due to limited space. Due to this constraint I have had to unfortunately let people know that I am at max capacity with my limited space and I’ve had to refer people to other rescues. This really hurts my heart to do because I truly do want to help them all. So our new IT specialist Erik created a cat waitlist for cats who need to be surrendered. I really do want to help all of the cats that people send me a message about, so this is the solution that I have in order to fairly take in cats that need help in the order that the cat surrender forms are received. I am currently looking into how to get grants to help secure a permanent space in order to take in more cats. The cat waitlist tool is going to be a helpful tool, but please know that it may take months before we get to your name and if you are in need of more immediate help to please contact a rescue or shelter with more resources. If we refer you to somewhere else, it is NOT because we don’t want to help, it is because we do not have the space. A video is included on how to access the Cat Surrender Waitlist form. (Original song credit: “Big Boys” by SZA) Introducing our most loving big boy, Toasty! Toasty came to Pumpkin’s Patch when a kind person rescued him from a life on the streets. His former caretaker says that he loves people! While in our care, Toasty has proven to big a big cuddle cat. He can be very shy when meeting new people, and he would love an adopter who can give him plenty of time to acclimate to his new life. Since being at Pumpkin’s Patch, we have learned that Toasty prefers a quiter environment. We think Toasty will do really well in a home with adults, and even older teenagers. Toasty is FeLV+. Toasty has Feline Leukemia and MUST be the only cat in the home, or can be adopted in to a home with other Feline Leukemia positive cats. While Feline Leukemia statistically shortens a cats life, the directors of Pumpkin’s Patch still believe that cats like Toasty deserve a loving home.
