A large part of what you pay for when you purchase a puppy from a Reputable Breeder is the ongoing support and guidance.

Your Breeder (whoever you purchased your puppy from) should be your go-to person to ask any questions you may have, address any concerns and provide helpful information on any minor medical or diet issues and assistance with any paperwork and future breeding support. When you go to a “Backyard Breeder” and “save” £500-£1000 on the purchase price – do not be shocked when your breeder suddenly disappears or doesn’t have the answers to your questions once you have purchased your pup eventually stop answering your calls and messages. If they told you the puppy came with breeder support and then cannot actually provide that support within reason, you were scammed.

This does not then mean your local “Reputable Breeder” is obligated to provide the breeder support you paid someone else for. Your local “Reputable Breeder” has their own puppy homes to support which can be very time consuming. They also have their own stud dogs and have to provide advice to other breeders using those stud dogs on top of their own breeding programme and they work HARD to support all of that. Your local reputable breeder also donates a significant amount of time answering questions and helping people who fail to do the initial research into the “Backyard Breeder” and/or people who choose the “cheaper puppy” and end up with health issues, paperwork problems and other various issues.

Please do not support backyard breeders and then go to reputable breeders to help fix your mistake for free.
