A boutique style store specializing in rare and colorful saltwater corals that are not commonly found in the hobby. Our emphasis is on sustainability; we grow 85% of our corals in house, with frags taken from our large mother colonies. In addition, Morgan Moore the owner; has been published in CORAL and KORALLE magazines. She has written for Reefbuilders.com, Reefs.com, and been a guest speaker at MACNA and for various marine aquarium societies throughout the United States.

I was lucky enough to catch my Fu Manchu lionfish chilling in my big Tyree leather coral tonight. It’s so awesome when you have a large enough tank that creatures can act like they would out in the ocean. 😊

Here is a really stunning video of Rhodactis sanctithomae mushrooms out in the ocean. The OP has them mislabeled, but I wanted to share it with all of you so you can see how gorgeous they are growing on a natural reef.

Just in time for Halloween, yesterday I took this beast of a Eunicid worm out of my 160 gallon reef tank. I knew something was lurking in my tank, moving pieces of rubble rock around, and munching my soft corals, but it had been eluding me. I even reaquascaped my whole reef tank three months ago partially in an effort to find what was doing damage, but I couldn’t find anything. A few days ago a chunky frag of Cespitularia and a bounce mushroom vanished, I found the nub of the Xenia under my rock and that renewed my suspicion that I had a eunicid worm in my tank. Yesterday when I lifted a rock to collect a bubble tip anemone for a customer’s order this big guy was lurking underneath. We had an epic battle as it rapidly tried to slither away, I grabbed my coral cutters to catch it with, the worm was even trying to strike me like a snake as I was trying to pull it out, my heart was actually pounding lol
Finally after turning half of my tank upside down I got it all out. Scary though it is, they aren’t very common in reef tanks, I’m sure it came in as a small hitchhiker and then grew to its current 2.5+ foot size.

Feeling pretty excited, I have 62 new frags coming in this morning from an awesome coral farmer in Tampa who I have been wanting to order with all summer. I was really glad to be able to support them before they go through hurricane Milton.

I spent a long day down in Marathon taking care of the farm after not having time to go for about 3.5 weeks, I was a little worried about how things would be doing, thankfully everything has just been growing and exceeding my expectations.

I’ve been growing under natural sunlight for a little over two years, it’s not always easy and there have been losses, but corals do grow so much faster under the natural sunlight. As long as you’re willing to roll with it and treat it like farming a garden you’ll be alright. If you want to be successful you have to be determined and adapt to situations instead of beating your head against the wall.

It was cloudy and a bit rainy so it didn’t make for the best photos, but here are some anyway cause most of the time I get so busy working that I forget to take photos. We’ve been putting in a lot of effort/love and it pays off, next year we’ll really be cooking and can start offering more stuff to wholesale customers so feel free to hit me up. 😎 Reefgardener.com
