This mama opossum was caught in a Have-A-Heart trap for a long time during a very hot day. She was very dehydrated when she was brought here. We treated her for dehydration and made sure all the babies were fine. She stayed at the rescue for the remainder of the day to rest, drink and eat. She was released last night.

Just because it’s a humane trap doesn’t always mean that what someone does with it is humane. Wild animals become very stressed in these traps and, if left for long periods of time, can experience a plethora of medical issues.

Lucky for this mama opossum, someone walking by saw what was going on and was able to help her. ❤️🙏❤️

Important information to remember when adopting any animal. They need time to adjust and feel safe in a new home with new people. Of course these timelines are just a guide, some animals will adjust quicker and others may take even longer.

Cat fact of the day 🐈🐾

A fledgling songbird is a young songbird that has left the nest but is not yet able to fly for a few days. Fledglings are usually 13–14 days old or older and are almost fully feathered, but their wings and tails may still be short. Their plumage is often duller and more ragged than adult feathers, and they may have some down remaining on their heads. Fledglings are active, bright, and vocal, and can hop, perch, and flutter in short bursts. Watch from a distance as the parents take care of them on the ground. PLEASE keep you kitties inside during this time of year, and give our songbirds a chance. .
