Its been a month since last received some funds to offset the vet bill. We are facing a terrible strain to continue funding the cats boarding from own pocket if we can't recover back the vet treatment costs. Please help with any amount. Even $20 goes a long way. If you can help us, please transfer to UOB 446 100 9608, we do not have PayNow. Thank you in advance.

APPEAL IS CLOSED -
$340 NEEDED TO CLOSE APPEAL FOR KNIGHT

29/9/20 Thank you from bottom of our hearts to Melvin Seow for closing this long standing appeal for Knight. We thank all cat lovers and supporters❣
******
We are still struggling to recover the amount paid for Knight. Funds greatly needed to support stray feeding and consumables for those in boarding.

Shortfall to close appeal is $340. If you are able to help, kindly bank transfer to UOB 446 100 9608 (no PayNow account). Greatly appreciate the help.

4/9/20 Thank you to Ilyiana Kamal for $100. We are reaching towards closing appeal with remaining shortfall of $340!

27/7/20 Grateful to Yvonne Low for donation of $100 and to Muhammed for $40.

30/6/20 Thank you to B.Liew for $50 donation

21/6/20 Shortfall is $630 after receiving $50 from donor (thank you Aliah and Amin!).

22/5/20 - Received $100 from Veron Soo . Shortfall $680.

16/5/20 - Received from Dorcas Pan $300 and Daniel Yeo $25. Shortfall $780.

Grateful if this appeal can be closed. We have 8 cats still in boarding out of which 3 cats are in their senior years and in 'retirement' home and solely funded from own pocket hence cannot afford to absorb all medical bills.

One of the friendly kittens we named Knight came down with severe feline flu and lost his appetite. He was hospitalized for 8 days and is on the road to recovery.

Seeking kind and compassionate persons that can help contribute to his bill of $756 and Uno shortfall of $349 which has not closed since December 2019. Total short on funds now is$1,105.

We really need your help as the financial burden is too great. Thank you

Update 7/1/20- Dos discharged. Please give us some time to update the bill n donor list.

Update on Dos. She remains in hospital due to her diarrhoea and very sore a**s and tail which is slowly starting to heal. She also started eating on her own for past three days but suddenly stopped again this morning and has no appetite. Switching meds to.reduce any side effects. Hopefully she.will be discharged in a few days. Dos bill has creeped up to $4,000 now and $2,000 deposit placed at clinic. Now we have so little funds to feed our own families but we cannot give up on Dos.
Please share and spread and really hope for a miracle benefactor can help us with medical funding. Before the Bukom kittens, we been funding over 20 adult cats for shelter, food and litter out of our own pockets. We are at a total loss at how we gonna pay up for Dos and if can ever get back funds to put food on the table with CNY round the corner.

UOB savings 446-100-9608. We do not have Paylah/Paynow for the account. TIA.

We are not scammers. We are very disheartened. We need funds to feed our own families too, it is really impossible to foot every bill. Can anyone help contribute to offset Little Uno vet bill?

Get well soon Little Dos.

She still has diarrhoea. Results are she has both mycoplasma (blood parasite) and calicivirus (a flu strain that causes ulcers) and because she was not vaccinated due to diarrhoea, her recovery is so much slower.
She still not eating on her own. Bill is piling up as she needs round the clock care. Will anyone help? We seriously cannot afford the hefty vet bill. Little Dos alone racked up over $2,000 todate. We are only simple, low-income independent cat rescuers. We too have other rescued cats to feed and care for and not just to find new families/homes for the 30 odd Bukom cats that we have placed in boarding and foster care now. If you can spare a few dollars our way, please transfer to UOB Savings 446-100-9608
Thank you and Happy New Year to all.

Much appreciation to kind donors:

Update 13 Jan2020 - grateful to two anonymous donors. Total $150 received.

We are sad to announce the passing of Little Uno. He gave up the fight as his body began to shut down from the effects of panleukopenia virus. Although vaccinated on 16 Dec 2019, he fell ill shortly after with severe diarrhoea that did not improve from deworming, probiotics and antibiotics and was warded in hospital on 22 Dec for further care. Goodbye Uno. We are sorry to lose you so soon.
We will be arranging his cremation. Unfortunately his vet bill has to be settled too. Could anyone help to contribute to bill of $1,114? You may transfer to

Appeal for vet fees for the Bukom kittens

Update: Little Uno passed on. Dos still fighting on.

We last updated that the kittens were having diarrhoea when we received them. Two kittens suffered the most and had to be hospitalised as they refuse to eat and their stools turned bloody. Besides the severe diarrhoea:

Uno (grey kitten) @ Furiends is in isolation for suspected parvovirus, and undergoing intensive supportive care. Nasal tube will be fixed to get him nutrition.

Dos (black kitten) @ VES has scalding on her a**l area and part of her tail. The vet does not think it is faecal scalding but more chemical or abrasive injury. She has an abnormal bladder which they are investigating further.

We have $400 received from donors for the kittens medical expenses. This will not be enough as we think the total bills will exceed $3,000. Will you help them, please?

UOB Savings 446-100-9608.
Pls leave a comment if you have transferred. Many thanks in advance.

We have discharged Penguin as he is already eating well after a week's stay in hospital. His electrolytes and blood results started normalising. However, we do not have much funds left to support all the Bukom cats rescued under our care - adults and kittens.

Can anyone lend us a helping hand to chip in to defray Penguin's bill of $1,119?

Appreciate any amount to UOB 446-100-9608. Pls leave a comment if you have transferred.

The team went to visit Penguin at the vet to cheer him on. He already looks much better than yesterday. And we're happy to report he ate some food at the clinic.
Penguin was one those vulnerable cats that we opted not to return to the island due to his age, estimated at 10 years old. Other than mouth ulcers, ear infection and bad case of flu, he is in good health. Kidney and liver function normal and he is FELV/FIV negative. We do hope someone out there can give him a loving home in his twilight years.

Thank you Xahrah Leeza for contributing $30 towards Penguin's bill which is still open. If you wish to help out, appreciate any amount to transfer to UOB 446-100-9608. Thank you.

Update 21/12 1pm - Penguin ate overnight and his electrolytes has improved.

We just sent this senior cat that we named Penguin to the vet. He was lethargic past few days and not eating well. Last month while undergoing sterilisation, he had wounds and skin infection on his body too.

Penguin now has mouth ulcers affecting his eating and drinking. He also has flu. He is currently warded and we wish him speedy recovery.

We welcome any amount to help defray his vet bill. We are just individual volunteers helping to rehome as many cats from the island but at times we will have to also deal with cats falling sick or ill. We do not have much funds to absorb vet bills for every cat rescued.

If you are able to help, appreciate transfer to UOB 446-100-960-8. We do not have Paylah or Paynow. Thank you.

Watch one of the kittens enjoying his meal. He is still shy and afraid of any sudden movements. Prone to panic attacks. But given time, we are sure he will warm up.

Quite disappointed and feeling down that the six kittens might have nowhere to go... again!!. A volunteer helped to shelter them after their discharge and they are STILL living inside pet carriers (volunteer lives in tiny studio). They have to be moved out as only 2 days given to hold them. But till today, pleas for sponsors for boarding not a single cent received to help the six kittens. This was after several other pleas to foster or adopt!

We really do not know what else to do and to be fair, between the two admins of this page we had taken in 30 Bukom cats into our respective homes - several of these cats were moved taken in from island to mainland before the mass TNR exercise coordinated by CWS.
Please be merciful and help them. We are already doing our best efforts but still not getting support for the cats.

Do PM us if you can sponsor their boarding at $100 per cat per month. This is about $3.30 per day and includes food n litter.

Update 11pm - the kittens have shelter for a couple of days. We hope sponsors will help with securing their boarding for at least a month.

Please PM if you can help to sponsor a kitten at $100 per month.

At time of posting, no fosterers, adopters or sponsors for boarding was confirmed. We are assessing the situation of where to keep them the next few days as their allowed stay at the clinic is up. The kittens got their first vaccination shots and were dewormed today as well. Total spent $174

The boarder was not keen to take in kittens without full payment. We understand this as food, litter etc had to be funded without guarantee of sponsors can be daunting and unfair. Praying for a miracle solution now.

🏡Sponsors for boarding needed🏡

Our urgent call for fosterers/adopters for 6 kittens yielded zero persons coming forward.
The clock is ticking and the kittens can't stay cooped up in a cage at the vet clinic much longer.

We are looking for sponsors for boarding the kittens. Cost is $100 a month per kitten (which works out a mere $3.30 per day!).

If you cannot foster, cannot adopt, would you at least help to sponsor boarding, please? There isn't much support for the Bukom cats in terms of fostering, adoptions, medical checks, appeals to defray costs etc. The cats really need our collective help.

Please PM us if you would like to sponsor a kitten, and please share this post. TIA.❣

LOOKING FOR IMMEDIATE/URGENT FOSTERER/ADOPTER - 3 MTH OLD KITTENS

We were informed that 8 kittens were caught today by CWS during the TNR session and 2 kittens are already in safe hands. We are helping to rehome the remaining 6 young ones who are housed temporarily in the vet clinic.
Young kittens will be removed from the island for rehoming as they run the risk of inter-breeding when they come of age.

We are desperately seeking fosterer* or adopter** if you meet the following criteria:
- meshed home
- space for 2 to 3 kittens
- able to care and provide for their well-being (including vaccination and vet check-ups)
- provide quality food
- allow for home visits

* Fostering period min. 3 months
** Adopters must sign adoption contract

Please dont ask to choose a "pretty looking" kitten - they are either black or grey and look rather similar as depicted in the photo.

Please PM us if you are willing to help save six lives. Thank you.

️❗❗❗SEEKING URGENT FOSTERER/ADOPTER - BUKOM 6❗❗❗

Today's TNR exercise by CWS successfully trapped 6 cats including a mama cat with three kittens. We are seeking urgent foster space. Or if you can give them a permanent home, please consider adopting them in pairs. Priority will be the kittens as they cannot be returned to island.
Mandatory sterilization of the kittens at six months will be arranged by us. Home must be cat proof to prevent falls and running away.

Please PM us if you can foster/adopt. Thank you.

28/11/2019

Trio the three-legged cat in his foster home. The professional trapper that was engaged by CWS for the mass TNR said Trio was feral. We really can't see any aggressive behaviour in this video. With a little patience in introducing cats, and allowing the new cat to open up at his/her own pace really does wonders.

We did not release him back to the island for obvious reasons- no three-legged cat should be living outdoors. No matter how "safe" a place looks like, accidents and mishaps bound to happen. Trio lost his paw at a young age and he learned to balance on three but his balancing act is more of a hop. Would you like to give Trio a permanent home? He is huggable and extremely food motivated!

Send us a PM for adoption enquiries.

Edited to 13 cats

🙏🙏PLEASE HELP BUKOM 13

Before we can settle previous batch, another session of TNR by CWS had 13 adult cats sent to vet for sterilisation. The cats are scheduled to be returned to the island this Friday, 29 Nov

The page admins are voluntarily helping as many cats as we can - as and when we are notified of new batches - sent for sterilisation.

There are no funds to support feeding and sheltering them in our own homes. Boarding them at a facility will cost us more than $1500 a month.
Therefore, can anyone please help to foster one or a pair of these pitiful cats? The cats are reasonably tame and can take a few days to warm up to you.

We've seen a cat so hungry that it choked on a chicken bone (leftover food from workers) and nearly lost its life. Returning them to a harsh existence is really sad, and can get injured or die from accidents. When they are sick, it wont be easy to retrieve them to the mainland for vet treatment so we will try our best to rehome them.

Please HELP the cats. PM us if you can foster or adopt.

❗Update 22 Nov, we managed to find fosters for remaining 4 cats so none was returned to Bukom.

BUKOM 10.2

Another 10 cats were trapped for sterilisation by CWS this week. Among the trapped cats was a four month old kitten and a senior cat with bad skin condition. Bukom page admins has taken over a total of 6 cats from this batch - another weight on our shoulders because we do not have deep pockets and very few will step up to help with fostering.

We have no choice but to return the remaining cats to Bukom island to live out a harsh existence. We are sorry.

24/10/2019

❗Update 25 oct: kittens have found a permanent fosterer to care for them and will be up for adoption in a few months.

Shortly after our post on the Bukom 4, we received information of 3 young kittens that were inadvertently left behind while their mama cat was sent for sterilisation. Efforts are now under way to get the kittens to safety (and reunite them with mama cat). We hope it's not too late to save them as they do not drink well from a bowl.

Please help us in our mission. We are severely lacking in funds, and even owe fellow rescuers and other fosterers money for boarding and medical costs.

We do not have Paylah or PayNow so you may visit the ATM or transfer via internet banking.

If you can help the cats, please help out with any amount to UOB 446-100-960-8, and do leave a comment.

Thank you for your compassion towards the voiceless animals.

❗Update: No fosterers came forward. So the 4 cats are being fostered between two admins.

BUKOM 4 - APPEAL FOR FOSTERER/ADOPTER

Four more cats from Bukom island were successfully sent to mainland and sterilised by CWS. They are looking for fosters/adopters. One of the cats is a three-legged male and a 6-month old kitten.

Despite being outdoors on the island all their lives, the cats are doing well in the clinic and are tame enough to handle, given some time to warm up to strangers.

If you are able to help foster /adopt, please send us a PM. They deserve a chance to live in a comfort of a home environment.
Home must be meshed for their safety.

We would be grateful if any kind souls can reach out to close the medical cost incurred by Purrs & Meows for Okra. The outstanding amount is $500🙏🙏

You may transfer to Purrs account at POSB Savings 278154645.

ANNOUNCEMENT

As much as we tried and do not want to burden our fellow rescuers, we see no way out. The following cats were removed from boarding due to insufficient funds to pay the boarders, and the burden of caring, feeding and rehoming the cats is shouldered by Purrs & Meows - and this is one lady who has so much compassion for animals she did not turn us down despite her funds are depleted - she still has heart to shelter them.

1. Okra
2. Tika
3. Sweetpea
4. Inky
5. Biscuit

We thank all who had supported the Bukom 10 in the past.

We hope that whoever is reading and still following this page, is able to help channel some funds to assist Purrs & Meows with food, litter and vet care for the five cats.https://www.facebook.com/purrsmeowsonline/

Gratefully,

In addition, October boarding fees of $800 will be due end of this month.

HELP OKRA

We have some bad news that Okra has been warded at the vet today. She had not recovered from flu while her boarding mates are doing well. She stopped eating, is dehydrated and coughing badly. Right ear is infected and there are ulcers on her tongue.

Blood test show a severe infection and anemia (platelet count is very low). She will stay in hospital on IV drip and antibiotics. As the excess of $200 collected is insufficient, we need to raise funds for Okra's vet treatment.

We are grateful for your kind contribution to POSB savings 026-11227-3. Help us to help Okra. Thank you very much.

Paprika is ready! Please give this sweet boy a home. He is shy but once he warms up to you, he is a real sweetheart. Litter-boxed trained and healthy.

Paprika is less than a year old and was one of the cats trapped at Pulau Bukom island and subsequently bailed out from the local authority. He has been sterilized.
