Last weekend at the Brazos Valley KC, Cirice was awarded BOS by judge Linda Hurlebaus for a grand major and the last points needed to tie up that grand.
The weekend before that at the Heart of America cluster, he was awarded a HUGE 5pt select in an absolutely stunning lineup of specials by judge Lesley Hiltz and then an OHG2 by judge Pam Peat.
So proud of my special boy dog. Best first show dog ever 🩵🖤

We were having some technical difficulties, but we’re back now!
After Elk City, we spent a weekend in Belton, TX where Cirice picked up a beautiful GCH major and CH defeat going SD at the Trinity Valley SSC specialty under Carolyn Herbel as well as an OHG1 under Judi Roller.
A few weekends later in Humble, TX, he picked up a few more GCH points, a CH defeat, an OHG1 and a RBISOH!! Thank you to breed judge John Schoeneman and OH group/BIS judge Edmund Dziuk for the honors!
Between shows we were able to snag another photo shoot with the one and only Anabel DFlux, I’ve included a couple below. 💛🌻
After a couple months off, we made the trip to Elk City where Cirice garnered a few more GCH points and a CH defeat!

We were lucky enough to land a session with the one and only Anabel DFlux! Anabel did pictures of Cirice and his brothers when they were just 5 and 7.5 weeks old, back when they were still with Christy in Southern California. When I saw she was visiting Texas and offering sessions, I JUMPED at the chance.

Zaffre is having a blast in Colorado Springs with our best friends over at Trouvaille Goldens!
Wonton has shown WONDERFULLY for her first weekend out. She an absolute natural and with some more coat and maturity, she’s going to be a real firecracker in the ring. She moves like nobody’s business and is such a hoot.
Cirice meant business yesterday and walked away with a HUGE Owner Handled Group 1 under Mr. Merle Taylor. He pulled out all the stops and showed beautifully for me.
Erin took WD with her bred by, Nacho, and BOB/BOBOH with her special, Mulligan. Mull then went on to win a whopping Owner Handled Group 2 in a LOVELY lineup of sporting dogs.
Todays the last day and it’s truly no pressure for our crew. We’re just here to play today ❤️
Gluing ears is an art that I have not fully mastered yet 🤣
Our hearts go out to the Justice family as well as their clients who tragically lost 5 dogs in a trailer fire today.

Cirice finished this weekend in Lake Charles by taking BOW/BOBOH under collie breeder judge Connie Dubois for his fourth major.
I’m so proud to have owner handled him to every single point in a breed that’s extremely competitive and handler heavy. He and I were both learning the game as we went and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect first show dog and now first champion. Grateful isn’t strong enough to describe how much I appreciate Christy for trusting me with this wonderful little dude.
I will forever be grateful to have you at the end of my lead, Cirice.

Where is my place in this sport?
I've officially hit an impasse. I once believed all show breeders had the passion for their breed that allowed them to only produce the best of the best and from that only the cream of the crop walked into a show ring. That the dogs you saw in the show ring were ones that matched the standard as closely as possible and the breeding dogs were the best that could be offered in health, temperament, and soundness. However, after spending 4 day conversing with people in many different breeds all of us came to the same conclusion- Where is this sport heading and where do I fit in? Are the dogs in the ring now truly the best of the best?
I spoke with several permit judges, who expressed their frustrations with reps disagreeing with their judging choices and arguing with them about what they did, even when they followed what they were taught by their breed mentors. I spoke to breeders who are frustrated losing to inferior dogs because the "generic show dog" with the familiar face gets rewarded over the dogs that match the standard more often than not. I was involved in a number of conversations about the "trends" people are seeing in their breeds, which take away from the original purpose of their breed. I spoke with exhibitors frustrated that a specialty weekend didn't pull majors in either sexes in their breed and they are struggling to finish dogs because of lack of entries. I watched dogs that years ago would've been hidden away in a loving pet home walk into a ring and be awarded points because judges can't withhold any more without repercussion and the breeders don't bother to learn or understand how to breed to the standard. Why take the time and work to breed correct dogs when the judges are awarding inferior ones?
I dont know what the answers are, but I know that people are becoming increasingly frustrated, discouraged, and annoyed with where things are going and conformation is losing participants left and right. Clubs are folding, shows are dying. Expenses are going up while entries are going down. We have ONE show cluster in Northern CA starting in mid June through September.
I am passionate about my breed. I am passionate about the sport. But as a breeder who believes in breeding healthy, sound, correct dogs.... I dont feel like I belong anymore. I'm not a judge doing the pointing (and after hearing some of the horror stories of rep interviews, I am not sure I want to become one). I am not a handler out to just "make my money". I am not a power that be in the ranks. I am just a breeder who loves my breed, wants to see my breed be in a good place, and wants to see others in my breed having beautiful correct dogs too. We ALL win when our breeds are in good shape. I want to teach new comers and be a positive cheerleader the way my mentors were to me. I want to help shape the future of my breed into the fit and functional hunting hound they were created to be(even if my dogs never run a rabbit). I want to help judges learn my breed so they can reward the beautiful correct dogs brought to them and help elevate the state of the breed. But I can't even do that when the reps are contradicting what the breeders are teaching. And at every turn, I feel like I am running into a brick wall.
There is no place for in this sport for the passionate educated breeder/owner/handler anymore. And thats a hard pill to swallow today.

Cirice stands 15.25” tall with beautiful bone, outline and balance. He has smooth, parallel planes, beautiful brow and stop as well as a soft expression, especially for having blue eyes! He has powerful drive in the rear with matching reach in the front. He is clean coming and going with a nice side gait, foot placement and timing. He is a very classic, moderate dog.
Cirice’s temperament was pulled right from the standard. He is fiercely loyal and never leaves my side. He’s friendly but indifferent to strangers and other animals. He is loving, biddable and happy go lucky. Confident in all situations with fantastic recovery in the very, very rare instance that something spooks him.
His most recent accomplishments are earning BOW & BOBOH during Royal Canin week, followed up with an OHG3 under breed specialist Mrs. Sulie Greendale-Peveza, beating over 20 of the country’s top OH herding dogs. Before that he earned a specialty major BOW under breeder judge Joyce Van Kirk followed up by specialty WD under collie breeder judge Amy Gau. Major BOW under judge Linn Klingel-Brown. Major BOB over multiple specials under the late Mrs. Barbara Dempsey-Alderman over multiple specials (his first points) followed by an OHG3.
He is one single away from his AKC championship.
