It’s official- Figgy’s found his match! 🎉🎉

After a rough go in and out of foster care, boarding, and an adoption return, Figgy has found the perfect home for him. He is now an only dog with his young, active human who keeps him busy in the beautiful mountains of Colorado! 🏔️His dad is head over heels, and we couldn’t be happier for this duo!

‼️ DODGE NEEDS A FOSTER ‼️

We took Dodge as a rescue transfer and had him all of one day before his foster parents decided to adopt him. He’s just that sweet!! Unfortunately, he doesn’t get along with their free-range chickens. After months of working with him, their trainer believed Dodge would be happier and more successful in a home without chickens. He is the BEST boy! Dodge has lived with large and small dogs, cats, and kids. He does very well and would be successful in pretty much any type of home. He is potty trained and kennel trained. He is playful and incredibly loving. He would be an amazing dog to foster, but he’s sadly stuck in boarding now. Please share so we can find somebody to step up and foster him or adopt him!

We have some exciting news to share! 💖🐾

Over the last week, Magellan and Maddie have been discussing how to revamp both our adoption process and our follow through after adoption to ensure maximum success for our foster dogs. We have come up with some amazing new ideas, but the most exciting new addition to our process is something that we believe will keep our dogs in their homes for good. Private behavioral training sessions with the dog and their adopter!

Foster homes put in SO much time and work to build trust and routine with their foster dogs. It can be a hard transition for a dog to go from that to a brand new place with a different structure. Our dogs have been failing during this transition stage and we want to help set everyone up for success. We have committed to a new custom approach for training with each of our dogs.

A dog like Luna, happy-go-lucky puppy with no compatibility issues, will be adopted with one pre-paid private session done on the adoption day to ensure that the adopter is instructed on everything necessary to set her up for success. A dog like Simmons, a dog that fails quickly without trust and boundaries, will be adopted after a 2+ week board and train to prepare him for adoption and also sent with 5 pre-paid private sessions between dog and adopter.

Owning a dog is ALL about building a relationship of trust and providing them an environment where they feel safe. It is vital that our adopters start off strong building this type of connection with their new dog. With the support of the rescue, the trainer, and all the new ground work laid out prior to adoption, we really feel our adoption return rate will decrease.

We have EIGHT gorgeous dogs available for adoption. They will need varying levels of training. This is going to be a very expensive undertaking, but we don’t see another way. Every time one of our dogs is returned, their zest for life dampens a bit. Our job is to rescue dogs and change their life for the better. That means going above and beyond to ensure that their life is much better having been a part of Love & Paws Rescue!

We have TWO dogs left in boarding! Speckles and Pixie spend most of their day in their kennel dreaming about the day they’ll be picked to go to a foster home or better yet, get adopted. Today they’re enjoying doggie ice cream sundaes from the boarding facility to stay cool on this hot day.

Speckles has been in foster care for 388 days, about half of those being in boarding. We have been working with her to become the best girl she can be! Her adoption and/or fostering will come with FREE behavioral training sessions between her adoptive home and our trainer to help the household set boundaries for Speckles to ensure her success. She is a GREAT dog!

Besides some time in a temporary foster home, Pixie has been living in boarding for 386 long days. It starts to make a girl wonder if she’s good enough for a family! Her temporary foster momma said she is the BEST and would have fostered her longer if it weren’t for frequent travel. We believe in Pixie and know she will make someone beyond happy if they give her a chance.

You’ve heard of Barbie and Ken, Mickey and Minnie, Sonny and Cher… now there’s Snoopy and Nemo! Talk about a Dynamic Duo! These two go together like peanut butter and jelly. Their love for each other is effortless!

The two became fast friends when Snoopy helped Nemo through her amputation surgery recovery. They bonded over their love of not only playing and wrestling but also their love of relaxing on the couch and chewing on bones. They are both medium energy and low maintenance. They are kennel trained, potty trained, and know basic commands. Snoopy and Nemo are available for adoption separately but we would be over the room if someone was interested in them as a pair!

Daisy has been on a home trial for several weeks now, and we are excited to share she is officially ADOPTED!!!

Daisy found herself on the code red list at FWACC. On the day she was scheduled to be euthanized, she went home with one of our fosters instead. About a month later, we learned more than one life was saved that day. She was pregnant! We were able to shift her into a foster home that could handle newborns, and Daisy gave birth to 8 puppies just a week later. Sadly, one was stillborn and we lost another at only 4 days old. Daisy was heartbroken and depressed, and we grieved alongside her while helping her continue caring for the rest of her litter.

Over the last 7 months, Daisy watched all of her babies get adopted while patiently waiting for her turn. It finally came and she is living her very best life as a spoiled rotten rottie! Her new mom is smitten, and we couldn’t have asked for a better ending for this family’s time with us. We love you so much Daisy girl.. go be great! 🌸

Happy Adoption, Koda! This sweet boy went from the streets of Texas to the mountains of Colorado and hit the jackpot with his new family. Koda is in love with his human siblings, and is taking his fur brother role very seriously. We are so happy for you, Koda- go be great!!

Bonnie had her check up and suture removal today! She is in the ALL CLEAR! 🤩 Her EKG showed that her heart is doing great and her previous issue resolved. It was a complication from her amount of blood loss, thankfully no underlying health condition. We couldn’t be happier.

It was a full circle moment tonight. The staff that saved her life got to love on her and see how well she is doing. She gave them therapeutic kisses and accepted all the pets they were willing to give her! She has even more exciting news to share later this week too. Bonnie is a lucky lady and is so incredibly loved! 🐾🩷

The boarding facility where some of our fosters are currently living had a LUAU PARTY today and the Love & Paws fosters got to enjoy it as well! Look at how happy they are to get some special attention.

We are so in love with these pups and can’t help but wonder when someone else will fall in love enough to adopt! Each of these dogs would love a foster home so they can live in a household instead of at a boarding facility.

Sweet Vera is ready for adoption and we can’t wait to find her a forever home!! Her eyes have melted our heart and they will melt yours too. Vera is a stunning one year old French Mastiff mix who adores people. She does very well with other dogs and kids too! Vera is medium energy, she is excitable and easy going but doesn’t require extensive exercise. Food is the way to her heart! She loves treats and meal time. Our intake is still closed, but a series of events found momma Bonnie in our care temporarily. Bonnie was lethargic, weak, and was in need of emergency care. A complication from her spay procedure had occurred, resulting in her bleeding out into her abdomen. We rushed her to the vet and when the $8,000-$10,000 estimate was given to save her life, we had to act fast and approve the charges so she could get into surgery. This is a HUGE undertaking and understandably so, her rescue couldn’t reimburse the cost. We made the decision to take her into our organization so that we could continue to fight for her. We are happy to report that she is doing much better after her surgery and blood transfusion, she will be discharged today!

Bonnie’s one year old puppies, Luna and Vera, were now in limbo. We never like to break up families so we decided to also take them into our organization. We are excited to be a part of their journey and can’t wait to find them foster homes and forever homes! They are all female French Mastiff mixes. They are dog friendly, kid friendly, people friendly, and likely cat friendly. We would love for them to go into homes as soon as possible!

Pete has been adopted! We can’t believe it took almost nine months for our perfect Chihuahua mix to find his forever home. His mom is in love with him and we couldn’t be happier! Congratulations, Pete! 🩷🐾

Poppy has officially been adopted!! Her foster momma fell head over heels for this precious little piggie girl and couldn’t imagine her life without Poppy. She was finally able to get spayed and the adoption is now official!! Congratulations Poppy, you are spoiled rotten and don’t realize how lucky you are! 🩷🐽

Pixie is looking for a forever home!! She has been in a temporary foster home for the last month and will be heading back to boarding in a couple weeks. Let’s share her beautiful face and get some applications in for her!

Pixie absolutely loves her people! If you’re looking for a low maintenance companion, this is your girl. She is low to medium energy so she’s content lounging around or chewing on a bone. She can be excitable when doing her favorite things like greeting her person, playing with a toy, or preparing for snuggle time. She LOVES to snuggle and gets so incredibly excited for bed time (if you let her sleep in bed with you). Pixie also loves her squeaky toys and will entertain herself, throwing them around and chasing them. She is great on a leash and enjoys leisurely walks but is also find to do backyard play.

We originally believed that Pixie was not good with other animals so we never tried it, but her temporary foster home has been able to integrate her in with some of her dogs and we are so proud of Pixie! She does well with other low to medium energy medium to large dogs. She is not good with cats. Pixie would do well with older kids.

Pixie is a short itty bitty pitty girl and is very healthy with her lean, muscular figure. We love Pixie so much and hope she can find a family that will give her all the love she so deserves! She is kennel trained, potty trained, and sits on command. Pixie is very food motivated! She is eager to please. She is a 2 year old, 50lb Bully breed mix.

Care Bear is officially adopted! He arrived in his forever home yesterday and it was love at first sight. He & Melo came to us from another rescue that closed their doors recently, and both found their perfect families in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. 🏔️

Our volunteers also checked in on Nala while in town, and just look at how happy she is!! We 🩷🩷🩷 a happy ending… happy tails, sweet babies!

If you’re looking for an active and loyal companion that loves to play, then Simmons is your match made in heaven! He is an incredible dog with so many amazing qualities. We can’t wait to find his perfect home! 🩷

Simmons is such a special boy. Our President is fostering him and he’s one of her favorite dogs that she’s ever had! He is a dream dog for someone who wants a deeply loyal companion that loves to be active and outdoorsy. The perfect adventure buddy! He loves car rides, he enjoys meeting new people, and he is the happiest boy you’ll ever meet.

This boy makes friends with everyone, he’s so friendly and loves everyone. He does fantastic in public! His foster mom takes him everywhere with her: Home Depot, Best Buy, Foot Locker, Home Goods, Petsmart, Hollywood Feed, Mutt's Cantina, and more. He’s non-reactive to people, kids, dogs, cats, etc. in public making him pretty solid in most every situation. He lets people approach him, pet him, and he is always happy for the attention.

Simmons plays very well with other dogs, taking corrections and matching energies well. He is being fostered with dogs as small as 15lbs and as large as 90lbs. Simmons loves to wrestle and run! Though he does like to be around other dogs, he would also be totally fine as a solo dog. He is more bonded to his people than canine companions!

Simmons is a higher energy German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix (we got him DNA tested) that loves to burn energy, but he is a very good and easy going companion too. If you are up and moving, he will be moving with you. If you are on the couch, he will be laying at your feet or playing with a toy by your side. He relaxes on the couch with his foster parents each evening and sleeps in bed with them too. He has also slept in a kennel and does fine either way.

Simmons absolutely LOVES squeaky toys and will always carefully choose one each morning to make that his baby for the day. It is the cutest thing ever. He does not have a high food drive, but he is obsessed with his plushy toys and will work with them as his reward. His silliest quirk is his love for squeaky toys. Everyone in the rescue showers him with different plushy toys for his toy rotation!

Simmons is a very good boy that knows several commands: Sit, Down, Up, Stay, Come, Place, Eat (to bite the chew toy), Out/Drop It, Touch, and leash manners. He is potty trained and kennel trained, though he is not destructive and does not necessarily need to be kenneled during the day. He is a fantastic dog!

Simmons is about 2-3 years old and about 65lbs.

Oh my, Miss Maggie! 😍 This gorgeous mini Cattle Dog mix is looking for her perfect forever home.

Maggie is a 6 year old, 30 lb Australian Cattle Dog mix. She is insanely lovable, loves to cuddle with/on you, and loves giving kisses. Maggie is an active dog that loves ample outdoor time and exercise, but also loves cuddling on the couch with you for hours. She likes playing fetch, going for long walks, or playing with the water hose! Maggie would absolutely love a house with a backyard instead of an apartment so she can have access to the outdoors whenever she wants. Though Maggie is active, you can often find her cuddling you on the couch, people watching out the window, or just enjoying her time beside her person.

Maggie thinks she’s a big dog at heart and does well with bigger, submissive dogs when introduced properly although she would thrive as an only dog too. She does best without small children and small animals due to her cattle dog breed traits. She is fully crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained. Maggie does well out in public and does great meeting new people. She is very friendly! Who wouldn’t want to adopt this little ball of lovable energy??

Snoopy has been searching for his perfect forever home for a little while now and we have a good feeling that his forever family is going to find him soon enough. He is a playful, outgoing, and silly boy. He absolutely loves to play with other dogs, wrestling and snuggling to his little heart’s content. Snoopy has also lived with cats and kids, he has done great with them as well! He absolutely loves children and is so gentle with them.

Snoopy enjoys being active and would benefit from having a play mate or good backyard play. He loves his toys and enjoys his fluffy blankets to cuddle up in. Snoopy bonds deeply with his humans and will be loyal forever! He likes going out and about with you whether you are running a quick errand or spending the day at a brewery, he loves the car and being included in activities. Though Snoopy likes to be out and about, he is always down for days filled with relaxation and cuddle time too. He is the perfect balance of medium-energy and well-mannered. Can you help us meet our newest goal??

The beauty of our organization is that no dog has any time restraints. Unlike overcrowded city shelters, we will never euthanize a dog for space. They are safe with us for the rest of their lives! Sometimes that means they have to go to boarding when we don’t have foster homes available. These dogs still deserve the best life possible and spending most of their day unfulfilled in a boarding facility kennel is not it. They want so much more and we do too. Help Speckles, Daisy, and Figgy find what their heart truly desires: a foster home to care for them or a forever family that will love them for the rest of their lives. 🥰

Our goal is to find placement for Speckles, Daisy, and Figgy by the end of the month! They are available to move to a foster home and are also available for adoption. We would love for Speckles and Figgy to move to a home and would love to keep Daisy out of boarding but her fosters are moving soon and can’t take her with. Please help us meet our goal by spreading the word about these incredible dogs! Let’s find them homes!

Bridget Update!

Momma Bridget finally got spayed! She had a very rough time with the surgery and the vets were concerned about her chances of recovery. The first night was touch and go, so we took her back to the vet for supportive care and monitoring for the last 24 hours. Momma was discharged this morning and, though we are still taking it slow, she seems much better! This is the first time she’s shown interest in food over the last two days and we couldn’t be happier. Her babies already had their surgeries and recovered wonderfully! One step closer to their forever homes. 🩷🐷

I saw this video this afternoon and it brought me to tears. I understand only being able to adopt one dog and we advocate for separating litter mates, but I couldn’t stand the thought of this sweet girl watching her brother leave and then having to be euthanized because she was unwanted. With the help of an amazing volunteer that was willing to pick her up and get her to the vet, we rescued her!! This girl is SAFE with us and is currently at the vet. Thankfully, she’s not showing signs of anything worrisome! We renamed her Peaches and can’t wait to share her journey with you all! 💖🍑🐾 Freedom picture in comments.

🆘 DOG HIT BY CAR NEEDS HELP 🆘 Update: Buddy’s injuries are too extensive. He has a large wound that has become infected, has a major spinal cord injury, and likely more issues to his organs like his bladder, lungs, and heart. The vet recommends humane euthanasia as any type of surgery would need a specialist, which would make this poor boy wait weeks and maybe even months without help, and Buddy likely wouldn’t have a quality of life even after any surgery. The owner is staying with Buddy as he says goodbye. We wish more could have been done. 💔 Picture of sweet Buddy at the vet prior to his diagnosis will be posted in the comments as soon as they send it. This poor dog was hit by a car there’s days ago and has been waiting in agony for a miracle! One has come because we stepped up to get this boy some help. He is being transported to the emergency vet clinic tonight and we really hope he can get some much needed help. The owner thinks he has a broken back and he hasn’t urinated since the accident.
