One of the best things about being dog walkers is that we get to add so many amazing dogs (and cats and lots of other critters) to our family. The very worst thing, though, is losing a family member.

We were heartbroken to hear that our sweet girl, Bella, had crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We first met Bella last summer and instantly fell in love--because how could you not? The thing about Bernese mountain dogs is that their giant bodies contain giant hearts, too, and Bella was no exception. She loved her mom and dad, Jackie and David; she loved her adorable pug sister, Molly (who crossed the Rainbow Bridge late last year); and she loved her cuddles.

In March, Bella lost her sight due to a tumor, but she didn't lose one single bit of her huge heart. We had the pleasure of taking care of her earlier this summer, and although she walked a little more slowly and needed to be guided a little more, she was the same beautiful girl she'd always been.

We know she's happy to be reunited with Molly, but walking through the neighborhood will never be quite the same, knowing that she isn't there. We are holding Jackie and David in our hearts and hope that they find some comfort in the years of happy memories they have with her. We love you, Bella, and we'll miss you so much.

In true Chicagoland spring tradition, we went from chilly and wet to sunny and hot in just a few days! We always take it easier on walks when it's hot, and let pups take breaks when they need to. Today, Sadie and Frankie rested on a nice spot of cool grass, and Ashton found some shade by a fence.
