Hi all!
I just want to address some angry messages that we have received today.
Lil Snoots is a small scale breeder. We don’t have more than 1 or 2 litters at a time. We don’t breed rats to make money, we breed for our personal goals and enjoyment. And while we do love being able to share the sweet creatures we produce with the community, we do ask that you see us as more of a passion project than a business.
Reservations are first come first serve. Our approved adopters list consists of 30+ people and growing every day, and most of those families want 2, 3, or even more rats each. Our litter sizes average around 11ish, and take up cage space for 2 months before we release them. So I’m sure you can see how overwhelmed we get with demand for rats.
Please also keep in mind that, while I do have help with the rats, this account is run strictly by an 18 year old full-time university student who also has a job. I am not always available when messages are sent, and can’t process reservations as quickly as I’m getting requests for them.
If you weren’t able to reserve a rat this time around, please rest assured that we do have more litters planned, however we can’t guarantee when more rats will be available for adoption.
For those of you who have been anxiously awaiting LSR Pixie’s litter coming up for reservation, I do have some unfortunate news. Some of the babies are showing possible signs of early-onset megacolon. While we are not 100% sure, we want to be safe. We have made the decision to postpone reservations for this litter until they are 8 weeks of age, and, IF some do have megacolon, they will not be released to prevent late-onset megacolon occurring in adopter homes. This is for the good of both the rats (as megacolon is usually fatal, or at least very difficult to treat) and the adopters, who would have to deal with the heartbreak and expenses.
Thank you very much for your understanding🥰
