Taking a horse that hasnāt been ridden in 6+ years, and a rider who has probably not ridden in the same amount of time, and getting them to this point after 5 sessionsā¦.heartwarming.
To me, horse training is mostly muscle memory, reaction at the snap of a finger, and HOURSSSS with horses learning that. To say I have over 200,000 hours with horses is still an underestimate. It takes a lot of time to learn how to not only ride, but especially to train.
And even then, we are always still learning. I can fill a pond with what I know with horses, but there is still the whole lake to be filled. You should always be learning as a trainer, rider, spectator. And this applies to life. Ego should always be thrown out the window. Toss jealousy in there too.
My weakness as a trainer I learned last year, which is very submissive and freezing type horses. I had to learn how to properly bring them out of their shell and learn to trust themselves as well as humans. And that has helped me in many aspects of life.
Training horses isnāt easy. Well, training the horse is the easiest part. itās dealing with the people and unrealistic timelines that can be strenuous and burn someone out very quickly.
Important for you as a client to give all the information you have on your horse so we can connect with them the best way possible. And use the proper tools that fit each horse because they are all different just like us.
Cheers to this next chapter Apache (12 year old gelding) and Alyssa ā¤ļø
