Colin Mitchell, BVMS, MS, DACVS, has been named head of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at LSU Vet Med. Dr. Mitchell joined the faculty of LSU Vet Med in August 2005 and is a professor of equine surgery. He has served as clinical lead and director of LSU Vet Med’s large animal services since July 2020. Congrats, Dr. Mitchell!

It's National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day. LSU Vet Med excels at responding to natural disasters and training others on disaster preparedness and rescue. During National Farriers Week we spotlight the importance of hoof care to horse health. “Because feet are a fundamental part of a horse’s overall health, it is important to get your horse seen by a farrier every four to six weeks for a hoof trim to help with balance and a healthier life,” according to Jonuel Cruz-Sanabria, assistant professor, equine surgery.
